Thank you much :) yes I know those steps but I have very specific questions about some areas. Should I ask here ? example, my jobs for the past 5 years....what should the end date say ? current date ? or write present ?

Also download the application package; go through each form you are supposed to fill. Start filling them even if as a trial. If you have questions related to a a specific form, ask in the forum

5 past years would be from now to 5 years back (2020 going back to 2015).
If it is a job that you currently hold, then you will write from the date you started (example March, 2018) and in the To section you just write PRESENT after you print the form

Hi All,

I am sponsoring my spouse for family class sponsorship. I have submitted application recently. Still waiting for AOR1 and sponsor approval.
I submitted my job letter at time of submitting the application. However, now due to Covid the business has temporarily closed and employer has laid off all workers so they may apply for employment insurance. They have given us Record of Employment and submitted it to Service Canada. I have two questions now:

1- Will it affect my application as a sponsor that I am no longer employed? Maybe the business opens again maybe not. Do I need to inform them about this change in employment status? If yes, how?

2- I do not qualify for employment insurance as I was a new joiner at work (and new to Canada too). If I apply for the emergency care benefit that will be announced in April for those who dont have jobs, will it count as social assistance and can it affect my application as a sponsor?

Hi everyone,
We're about to mail our sponsorship application + OWP in the next 2 days. My visa expires April 10th.
So if the tracking number shows my package was delivered anytime before the 10th of April, does it mean I'm fine with staying legally in Canada and having implied status? Or just because it was delivered it does not mean it was received yet?
I just don't know what date they go by.
Please kindly let me know.
Thanks so much!

If the application is received before your status expires then you should have implied status and can wait for the work permit. However, should your application be returned for any reason (e.g missing fees or signatures) then you will be out of status. Make sure you sing every part you are supposed to sign, the last page of your checklist will show your pages that require signature; these two are a common reason for applications being returned; Schedule A missing a hand signature - apart from the electronic signature, it also needs to be hand signed after printing); Insufficient fees (most missed is the 100 for the OWP) Make sure you have paid a total of=f 255 for the OWP (155+100)

To be safe, you can submit an application to extend say online

Thank you so much for your reply and for the valuable tips.
I'll make sure to sign everything, I'll be super careful.
I'm wondering about how to organize the whole application.
Could you share some light on this?
I was thinking of doing it this way:
1.Bar codes for the sponsorship and OWP together on top
2. Sponsorship checklist
3. All the forms in the same order as on the checklist
4. Supporting documents for Sponsorship
5. OWP checklist
6. All the forms needed
7.Supporting documents for OWP

Also, if I have an additional sheet for a form, should I include it straight after the form?

the tracking number doesn't grant for your application. If you can take a risk, in case they send back your application, you wait it around a month to receive from them. You would consider to extend your visa while you wait 6-8 weeks for AOR. If you apply with OWP, there are more risk, because it's separated process while you're out of status.
Check your application to avoid common mistakes

Now that you’ve finished preparing your application, you can submit it for processing. You should do the following:
  1. Place a copy of the checklist on top of your complete application package. This will help make sure the application can be processed as quickly as possible when it arrives in our office.
  2. If you’re applying under the Spouse or Common-Law Partner in Canada class and the person you are sponsoring is also applying for an open work permit, after the checklist, place:
    • the work permit application form and documents (if applicable) and
    • a separate fee payment receipt for the cost of the work permit application
  3. The order of documents should be as follows:
    • checklist;
    • open work permit application (and supporting documents), if applicable;
    • any barcode pages;
    • supporting documents, in the order they’re listed on the checklist.
additional sheet, put it follow its form.

Much gratitude for this!
Should I also include the checklist for OWP, or it is not necessary?
In terms of the date they receive the application, what do they judge by if not by the date the package was delivered?
I'm wondering how long it takes. I hope sending it one week before my status expires is enough..

You should consider this time I don't know your couriers how long will they take to send your package? Canada Post have an announcement that they properly delay and not sure on time. Their office will close weekend.
checklist for OWP is up to you, because I also discuss with another OP about this, some will include it, some said they didn't. follow checklist and decide on your own.
