My parents had a medical this week. However, my father has a hearing issue. He uses hearing aid and even then his hearing is not that great. They will most likely call it a disability. Is it a ground for refusal of PR?

21-11-2014
Hi Folks,
My mom is doing her first landing in March. She is coming from USA to Toronto. Any advice or suggestions ? Do they have any sort of Interviews ? She has to go back after a month due to personal reasons and will return back forever in few months.

What all things to be done before she leaves in a month like SIN etc.... ?
TIA.

Biometrics Done - Feb 11, 2020

This information is reflected in the CIC account, but the Current Status shows "Your Action is Required". Are we required to upload the Biometrics receipt to online account?

My mother is Indian currently living here in Canada on Super Visa. After Sponsor approval, the file was transferred to New York in December. What could be the reason?
Also, as her Visa expires in March, I am going to apply for extension in couple of days. Do I need to give any reason to them?

Hi Seniors, can one of you explain these please?:
  • Ghost update (and where does one look for them?)
  • Flag poling
  • Also (anyone who has got their PR finalised): in the old days one had 1 year from the date of the medicals to land. Does this still hold? Or do they now give you a specific date? I'm trying to plan ahead.

I doubt it (unless anyone has actual experience with this with their parents/ grandparents).
Reason I say this is, as someone who wears hearing aids myself, the max exposure to the health system is a) cost of hearing aids (govt pays $500 every 3 years), + b) doctor's consultation fees (covered by OHIP), again every 3 years.
These costs would be way below the threshold of I think $20,000 that they use to assess if immigrants would be a burden to the heath system or not.
Note, the better types of hearing aid (less visible) cost up to $1,500 each.

I don't think she can travel until she gets her PR card which takes about 2 months.
You can do landing when she comes back forever if she has or does not need visitor visa. Urgent processing of PR card is also an option.
US seems to have some exceptions when travelling by private vehicle. Check this link: https://immigrating-to-canada.com/residency-parent/pr-card-renewal/can-travel-without-permanent-resident-card/

Hi
I am a June 3rd applicant. I applied through immigration lawyer. Received AoR on Sept 30. But no communication after that from CIC. Even june 6 applicants are receiving biometric or medical requests. Should I be concerned or should leave everything on lawyer? Please advice.
Thanks!
Hi, the same situation , Ontario applicant. AOR Received -September 19th.Nothing als came. My lawyer sent letter and get response next day. Please see response below:
''
Hello,
We have received a letter dated September 16, 2019, that this application has been accepted under the
PGP 2019 intake. The online status says that the processing has started on October 25, 2019. However, we
have not received any further communication from CIC and the client is worried that it could have been sent
to the wrong address/misplaced. Please advise. Your response will be greatly appreciated.''

'''
Thank you for contacting Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

We verified the information on file and can confirm that the responsible office did not send for you to provide any documents yet. In the meantime, we are pleased to inform you that everything appears to be in order with the application.

Rest assured that you will be informed as soon as a decision is reached or if additional information is needed.

We hope the information provided is helpful in assisting you with your enquiry.''

Upon contacting IOM, they told us we are required for another Xray which they scheduled on April 24th, exactly 3months after the initial xray. Nothing more.
Hi Mayrose, did they mention if they would still let you know the result of the culture test? Or are they skipping the culture test and just going for re xray on april instead? Thank you.

I saw following update in my ECas today but no email or letter as of now. Not sure what this letter will be until I get it.

Medical results have been received.
We sent <PA> a letter on February 10, 2020. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.
