When you submit additional document, does it take a while for the GCKey application status to change from "Your Action is Required" to "Submitted"? Status of Additional documents says it is already uploaded though. Thanks!

For the background check what is Cic particular looking for. Is the background check for the sponsor or PA
CIC is doing the background check on the Applicant. The sponsor has been approved by this point. They are going over your documentation, information supplied on your history and going through the relationship information to ensure it's genuine. Basically all of the info you supplied on the application is being verified. Likely why this is such a long process.

Is the background check distinct from/different from a security check?

Also, anyone have info if previous visitor visa approvals will tend to help/speed things up? My PA has had multiple visas before, and most recent was long-term (validity of passport, >5 years).

Background check is different from police/security check. That's an inquiry into past criminal charges on your record. Background check is from all of the information you supplied on the application. Job history, residences, family etc.

I don't think past history speeds things up but helps in the strength of the application once they start reviewing it.
