Some update from Sudbury

“The priority sectors for Year 1 are mining supply and services, tourism (including restaurants and hospitality), and all occupations and all industries if an individual has been living in the community for more than two years (as is the case for many international students now attending a local post-secondary institution),”

So, basically mining and tourism. I can assume that tourism will mostly cover cleaners and waiters at various hotels :D

Then what's the entire purpose of this program? Anyone can visit Canada and interview with companies there. If they want to hire you then you will get a work permit and can start working and living in Canada soon after. After that there are a myriad of ways to gain PR. The entire gatekeeper for most is that employers are not willing to wait for months for applicants to get all their visa stuff ready. No job is open for months and the employer is just waiting for some chap from Bangladesh or Belgium to get visa approvals and work permissions. I thought the entire program was designed on one side to help fill low pay jobs in rural communities and on the other hand to match up employers, who understand that the applicant cannot start working tomorrow, with foreign labor still abroad. Poorly thought-through program as most skilled labor programs.

When there is no employer who is willing to wait and sponsor applicants but still wants cheap foreign labor then that is an issue of baking the cake and wanting to eat it, too. Can't have both.

I said this in compassion for all the hopefuls here who think this program is a godsent. It was if the jobs were not so low level jobs that nobody else in those communities wants to do them and if the program actually screened and only let employers pass who are really willing to wait and go with the applicant through the process of visa approvals and work permissions and residence permits. But unfortunately those employers don't have realistic expectations at all. And sadly this is the result of poor management of those who manage immigration programs like this. I speak up in order to make those in government aware of the issues applicants are facing. If some feel so uncomfortable to read anything negative then they can ignore me. I speak up to raise issues that make no sense.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I have multiple entry visa for 5 yrs and over 10 yr work experience in healthcare. So I can fly to Canada straight away if the employers endose me to get a job offer. All the required documents are prepared in advance.

Details published for Sault Ste. Marie
https://welcometossm.com/application-process-overview/

They do have their own points system and apparently you need to have some connection to the community in order to apply, such as studies, relatives and others.

Since the community has a population of over 70,000 people their requirements are clear and understandable, unlike communities with 5,000 people who have no idea what to do )))

Actually this one has some decent NOCs listed as in demand, which includes professional occupations and not only skilled ones.

Basically if you get a job offer from one of the listed NOCs, have 6+ years experience in that NOC and are under 36 years of age you will get 71 points and will be able to apply.

But since once they nominate you, you will apply with their recommendation for permanent residence I doubt they will nominate someone without connection to the community.

As i see it they will give preference to candidates who have connection to the community and if there will be none, then they will nominate the candidates who satisfy the requirements as described above.

After all they can only nominate 100 candidates per year.

yes. i can see that they are more likely to hire people who can just drive up there or people who have ties. so far, i can see nothing immigration friendly about the RNIP.

Neither do I. I think this program is for people who have temporary residence permit already in Canada and they will be able to use this path to get a permanent one.

In my opinion what they should have done is to make some mixture of requirements/points system. Then award a work permit that would be limited to a certain community for several years.

In that way people would not go through a hassle of getting a job offer from abroad.

Seems that they have more job catagories. The job category worths 55 points, so it is impossible to meet the minimum requirement if the job is not on the list.

Their job bank seems to be directly linked to indeed, a lot of the jobs don't even meet the RNIP requirement.

To be honest, this is targeting only at people who is currently working in their communities or a graduate from local schools. Those people, however, can always apply through EE/PNP after a year, which is not necessarily going to be slower than the RNIP process. Only people who has a job but cannot meet the lowest English requirement in other programs can benefit from this.

Community criteria for Altona, MB
https://www.seedrpga.com/community-specific-criteria

A little bit similar to Sault Ste. Marie and some connection to the community would do. But basically, their requirements are more relaxed and job offer in any sector will do, provided that your employer has been in business for 10+ years.

I liked the below criteria/requirement
Candidate has lived as an adult (18 years of age or older) in a community with a population of 10,000 people or less, and located one (1) hour (travel distance) away from a large and densely populated urban area for a minimum of six (6) months

It makes perfect sense to me, since if someone lived in such a small community it will not be a problem for him/her. I personally live in a building complex where around 4,000 - 5,000 people live (more than Altona population :D)

Most of these areas will never need things like software developers, finance jobs other than basic financial management, etc. They are smaller communities with smaller businesses or more industrial jobs. Many of these jobs are likely to be service jobs or skilled trades.
Hi,

Looks like there might be positions for Engineers also. Now for my case, my NOC code is 2133.
That is Electronics/Electrical Engineer position.
Don't you think, Altona/Rhineland area is not suitable for Engineers because this community is focused on more food, Manufacturing, Agriculture!

There may be a few jobs but many of the locals have taken the advanced positions. Would think many jobs would be centred around agriculture in that area. There is likely to be an aging population although There may be Hutterite colonies around there. We’ll see.

Hi Mr. Canuck 78,
Thanks for your nice reply.
If you look the RNIP offering website for Altona community, you would see NOC A and NOC B has been called. Not sure, why +5/+10 points is written there. Offcourse locals will pick up jobs more than we applicant could do!
Right at the moment SEED website just shows few positions for those who are truck driver, print press operators etc!

On the other hand, Thunder Bay opens some prestigious NOC.
Dont you think, RNIP would be very competitive for those who has particular engineering proffesional?
What do you think about this program compared to SNIP or Express Entry?
Having a fixed job offer, intended to stay 3 years to contribute society?
