USA born baby to Canadian PR parents

Hello folks, Please help.
Me and my husband currently reside in the US. We both are PR of Canada. I am pregnant and will be delivering my baby here in the United States.
We will need to move to Canada soon after baby is born in about 2 months after the baby comes.
What would be my options in this case?
Do I need to wait until my baby’s passport arrives for our move to Canada?
Does the baby get health benefits in Canada till her name is added with our PR?
Please let me know your experiences

Yes - the baby will need a passport to move to Canada.
No - the baby will not get health care benefits in Canada at first. You will need to sponsor the baby for PR and once the baby is officially a PR, it will qualify for health care coverage. Until then - you will have to obtain private insurance to cover emergencies and pay for the rest out of pocket.

Does the baby get health benefits in Canada till her name is added with our PR? Depends on the province you settle in. Most wont provide coverage until the child receives their PR.

Hi everyone, we are in a similar state as some others here. My husband and I both have Canadian PR and he has been living in ON since Feb 2018. I am still working in the USA and we just had a baby in the USA. I plan on moving as soon as we have the baby’s passport and once my husband starts the PR process for the baby. I have two questions:
1) does husband alone require to file for PR or should I be a cosponsor ( I won’t be living in Canada at the time of sponsorship)
2) to those who moved with the baby, please let me know what insurance you used to cover your baby’s immunizations as well as any regular or emergency visits to the doctors and how much it cost.

Just walk into any walkin clinic and ask to see their fee charge sheet for uninsured individuals
Canada will be better since you won't have to sponsor the child for Canadian PR separately. If and when you get your US GC (when you file I-485), you can add the Canadian citizen child to the application at that time. The child will also not need a US Visa (H4 or B1/B2) and can simply travel to US with you using a Canadian passport.
Of course if you want the child to run for US president in future, then you should deliver in the US.

Non-immigrants in H1B status working in USA can deliver babies in USA and so can illegal immigrants or anybody. All get US Citizenship. Your status in Canada makes no difference. Such a child will need to be sponsored for Canadian PR separately.

Can you please explain more about your situation? We have Canada PR and residing in ON Since June 2018. We both work in USA on H1B and we are planning to have baby delivery in USA? Can you please provide any inputs?
Hi, our situation remains exactly the same. We got our baby’s passport and are in the process of sponsoring his Canadian PR. I think the current wait times are incredibly long. If you live in Canada as PR and your wife has health insurance I would recommend you have your baby in Canada. In my case since I was not residing in ON and didn’t have OHIP, I had my baby in the US. However since the baby won’t have any insurance till he gets his PR approved (10-11 months roughly) and the OHIP waiting period of 3 months, my baby and I are staying behind in USA while my husband lives alone in TO. This is not ideal for us. I would recommend you think twice before getting into this situation.
On a separate note how are you working on H1B in US while living in Canada as PR??
