Hi everyone , i have a question regarding pregnancy during sponsorship process.Hopefully someone can help answer the questions. Thank you all !

My wife is now 6 months pregnant and due date is January 9/2020, and there is still a 5 months remaining in the sponsorship the process. We don't know when she will get her PR . It Could be before her giving birth date or after.
If she gets PR before the due date , will she be allowed to get on the plane ? If she gets PR after she gives birth , what are the things i need to do to get the newborn in Canada ? I am Canadian citizen.
I know we have to fill out the application form " proof of citizenship" . how long does it take to process the application ? If it takes too long for the " proof of citizenship" to process , will i have to start over the family sponsorship ?

thank you all , really appreciate it

By reading your question it seems at present your wife is not living with you in Canada

If not done already, you must inform ASAP CIC by using the webform of the pregnancy of your spouse. CIC will then suggest options based on your current status of application where before issuing PR/visa stamps on the passport they will reopen the application and will include your child in the same application for the process once they receive birth certificate/passport.

Sponsoring again the child in the new application will be a tedious and lengthy process where your wife will get PR but your child will not. So the best way is to include the child in the same sponsorship application.

It is generally safe to travel during 7-8 months of pregnancy and not in very last. The decision may vary by airlines.

Your child will be Canadian since you're a Canadian Do not sponsor him. You will need to apply for a citizenship certificate (takes a few months) then apply for it's Canadian passport. A baby cannot travel without a passport.

If you decide to do the Canadian passport later but still fly to Canada you need to ask for an ETA for the baby.

Whether she is allowed on the plane depends on how far along she is and the airline's policy.

If the child is born outside of Canada, you can apply concurrently for a Certificate of Citizenship and a limited validity Canadian passport. As the child will be Canadian, the birth has zero effect on the PR app.

OP doesn't need to inform IRCC of the pregnancy. The child will be Canadian and therefore NOT included in the application.

Thank you for the reply everyone! . What is OP? So since I am a Canadian citizen , my baby will be automatically Canadian citizen regardless where the baby is born right? So no need to include the baby in the sponsorship application and no need to inform CIC ? Do i apply for citizenship certificate and passport in Canada or i can apply in Hong Kong ? my wife is now living in Macau. My concern is if she gets her PR visa sometime in the next 2 months , she will be 7-8 months pregnant. I am just afraid the airlines wont let her get on board. So that means she will have wait after she gives birth to the baby before she can fly to Canada. Within what time frame does my wife have to land in Canada ? Will CIC extend her PR visa because of the application of Citizenship Certificate of the newborn as It may take a few months to process it ?

Thank you very much . Very appreciate it !

As long as you were born in Canada or are a naturalized Canadian, yes, the child will be a Canadian citizen. You would need to inform IRCC if the child is born before the app is processed but the child is not included in the app.

Apply in Hong Kong.

The COPR will expire one year from the date of the medical or passport expiry, whichever is first.

The child's passport can be issued within a few weeks.

Note that depending on your province, your wife may not have health coverage for the birth if she comes here at 7-8 months pregnant.

Thank you for you help.

Can I apply for Citizenship Certificate at the same time as the Child's passport ? If she comes here at 7-8 months pregnant without health coverage in the province of Ontario , is there any other Health Care provider that can help me with the high cost expense? Or will the province of Ontario reimburse the money after my wife gets her OHIP ? Would you have any suggestions ?

Thank you very much!

How will the child be a Canadian citizen if born abroad ?

Reimbursement for expenses accumulated before OHIP eligibility does not happen.

No, there is no other health care provided to cover the expense and Ontario will not reimburse you. If you cannot afford to pay yourself, plan for the birth in her home country.

If you were born in Canada or are a naturalized Canadian yes, however if you are second generation born abroad your baby will have to be born in Canada to be Canadian.

You can apply for Citizenship at any consular office, if you are in Canada, your wife can make the application and you would need to present your proof of citizenship (canadian birth certificate or canadian citizenship card/certificate and additional ID)
Once your wife obtains her PR she can present the passport application (she'll need to provide proof of travel), if you are in Canada you can sign the PPTC028 (which is the authorization for a child passport from the parent who is not present), at your closest passport office, you will also need to present supplementary ID.
