I need some advice on obtaining PCC for my wife in India. The passport office asked for an invitation letter of my spouse to issue PCC. Since she is being sponsored by me there is no invitation letter. The passport website does not mention this rule to get a PCC and the staff are not helpful on this. I am wondering how others worked around this? Thanks.

You dont have to deal with calling the passport office directly. Everything is done online now. By invitation letter they probably meant an appointment letter that is generated once you make a request for pcc online.

If you go to this link, under steps to apply you can find police clearance certificate. When that opens you register an account. After which you login and just follow the instructions on booking an appointment. Its not that hard. You just need to make sure all the details are matched up (ensure you select canada as the country and pcc requested for permanent residence.) Select the nearest passport office for your spouse. Pay the fees through debit/credit and then on the appointment date and time slot she heads there, goes through different procedures (the people working there will guide her if she asks) and if all is clear they will issue her a pcc same day itself or if they deem extra police verification needed they will Inform the police station under her jurisdiction for a home visit to verify her address and any pending or past criminal case. They usually do this if your passport address does not match your current address (obtaining a pp in India has this home verification step already so if the address is different they consider it non verified and add the extra step). And if addresses match, hassle free pcc provided same day. Its a smooth process now once you get an appointment online. Hope this helps.

I'm in the same boat as yours. They are asking for an invitation letter letter for my wife who applied for PCC which doesn't make sense. Did your wife get a PCC?
Did you try to book an appointment online? Select Immigration Purpose other than citizenship and country Canada. Then select one of the available appointment slots. Appear before the PSK employee and they will verify the ID proofs, list of which is available online. An official will visit from the area police station and submit their report. Your PCC should be ready in less than 2 weeks.
Apply online and schedule the appointment. printout the receipt /invitation letter

Hi VJ, i approached PSK today and am in the same situation as you. What did you end up submitting ?
Hey I know its frustrating, these guys are asking for documents that are not required. So I asked my wife to just take the sponsorship evaluation form that I gave her. After going to the PSK, she asserted that invitation letter is not a required document in the list when she filled out he pcc application online, she also took a screenshot of the list of required documents to prove it. Finally after a lengthy discussion among the psk officials they finally processed her pcc.

We visited the PSK centre again today. We saved the web page of the Express Entry profile that shows the dependant details and resubmitted that. They fortunately accepted it. Hope this helps all future applicants. Please ensure to take along with the specified documents on the Passport seva portal -

- Screenshots / Prints from your express entry profile that clearly show that your spouse is an accompanying dependant.

Hi, I am in the same situation. I got PCC, but they denied PCC for my husband at Vizag PSK. They are asking for invitation letter. Even after a lot of discussion, the staff didn't accept our request. We applied for PCC at the Police station.
We got PCC on Commissioner of Police letter head, now we are worried whether it will be accepted, as the issuing authority is different.
