Hey guys,

CIC received my parent's file on May 27th, and I still haven't heard anything from them. Does it usually take this long for CIC to start processing the file?

Thanks!

This is our progress to compare:

18 MAY 2018 Application for PGP Sponsorship received by IRCC

21 SEP 2018 Application accepted under the intake cap for 2018

18 OCT 2018 IRCC started processing the application

21 DEC 2018 Sponsor met eligibility requirements as a sponsor

05 APR 2019 IRCC status said: “We sent you correspondence on April 5, 2019. If you have not yet provided the information or the requested documents, please do so as soon as possible. Please wait until you receive the correspondence before sending us additional information, as the correspondence will outline all information that is required.” (This correspondence was received by email from the Visa Office, requesting the National Police Certificates of the parents and the 19-year-old accompanying dependent along with a copy of their Renewed Passports, and their Travel History Form).

05 APR 2019 Medical exam was requested

10 APR 2019 Medical results submitted to IRCC

15 APR MAY Results of Medical Exams received by IRCC

10 MAY 2019 Passed Medical Exam

11 MAY 2019 Pre-arrival services letter received from Visa Office (Paris)

31 JULY 2019 IRCC status says: “We sent you correspondence on July 31, 2019. If you have not yet provided the information or the requested documents, please do so as soon as possible. Please wait until you receive the correspondence before sending us additional information, as the correspondence will outline all information that is required.” (What could this be? I have no idea, we have not received anything by email. Is the Passport Request sent by regular mail/post? And does it come from Ottawa or from the Visa Office? No idea!)

I had a question.. If I am sponsor for my parents and my father is principal applicant. While checking cic online services should I be entering my data or my father's data (uci, date of birth, place of birth)?

If you are checking the status through the regular CIC account, and not through the GCKey account, then you should check the status using your own information. This will also let you know about the first part of the process, which is assessing the sponsor and whether you meet the eligibility requirements to be a sponsor.

Remember, if you are trying to register the GCKey account, then you'll need to enter your parents' details and will require a bit more information. For example, if you are the only sponsor who is sponsoring your parents, then the answer to the question regarding the number of people in the application should be "3" (You, Dad, and Mom). Similarly, if your spouse is a co-signer to sponsor your parents, then the number of applicants in the application should be "4" (You, your spouse, your dad, and your mom). If your parents also have accompanying dependants on the application, then you'll need to include them in the total number, too, and so forth.

Did you call IRCC at all, Hallie? Try to give them a call, ask questions like if there's any docs request or any flag on the case. Most likely you have nothing to worry about. But hopefully the agent can confirm that nothing's wrong at the moment, and secondly, tell you what's going on. I don't see tracker right now so I don't remember when your application was received. But seeing people from May 7th have been getting DM, I would just call.

I just called IRCC this morning and was advised that my case is normal, no missing doc or communication. Just have to wait....sigh

ECAS has been showing In Progress since Jul 16... However in MyCIC it still shows "Your application is in progress. We will send you a message when we start reviewing your eligibility.".... Does this mean my sponsorship application is still not being reviewed yet???

Good Morning Friends,
Finally see Ecas status as application received and also got an email from CIC to submit father in law's death certificate.Any advise on that?

Have a nice day

I would say, your sponsorship application is under review as it shows "in process" but not yet complete.
Once complete, you will see a "Decision Made" status in ecas and myCIC status will change as well.

Congrats !
Yes, you will need to submit the death certificate.
Taking a cue from last year applicant's, I submitted my fathers death certificate along with my application itself. We have seen they have requested death certificate if one of the parents is deceased.
