in order to get the notes, does my wife need to sign the paper too? Trying to avoid this, cause the place they go to print and scan stuff is in dangerous neighborhood.
She will need to sign an authorization yes .

My husbands app is still in Mexico yes . What I mean is since we uploaded the additional docs Mexico VO wanted we have had silence
oh i see. from your experience so far. what makes an application more complicated compared to others? Like I know age difference is a big one.

My wife and I are both 30 years old. And we got married in Buenos Aires with no family members there because it was too expensive to fly everyone there. my wife is also from Venezuela. We both first time marriage.

One supposes that there are a lot of factors that they consider. Such as: any previous marriages, length of relationship, children from this or past marriages, previous sponsorships, proof of a strong bond, etc. Getting married in Argentina could complicate things for you but they should understand that Venezuela is a basket case.

I think every app is very different and it all depends on the officer , as well as what evidence was submitted etc. A red flag for one officer may not be for another .

Yeah, That's true. It's all very random. Maybe luck has a lot to do with it depending on what visa officer you draw. I've wondered if the visa officers are Canadians or local hires. There should be a set of detailed guidelines that they should be mandated to adhere to but I doubt if that is the case. A lot of it just seems to be quite subjective.

Well I think the officers are trained to look for obvious red flags, culture comes in to play in some instances as well I would assume . We never know. That’s why you should submit the best evidence you can .

Wish you all the best but since you didn't have any photos from your wedding with family, you should have attached some letters from your parents, her parents, some friends, indicating that they know you guys as a couple and that they can give faith of your relationship. This is a 12 month process, if you read an application that took 6 months, then that's the exception to the rule and their way of averaging out the process or lower the average times. As the matter of fact, the IRCC websites clearly states that only 80% of the applications are expected to be completed within the 12 months service standard and the last time they reported actual data, they indicated that only 72% of the applications were processed within 12 months
Just give it time and don't worry about all these comments about Mexico, our process ended well before the 11 months and it went through there so it doesn't necessarily mean bad news if it ends up going there. I am almost positive that they process based on nationality and not on country of residence because I have a friend whose wife lives in Peru and they sent their application to sponsor to Mexico (even if there's a visa office in Lima) so yours is likely to follow that same route

Thank you for that comment. I did give in a letter that my parents agreed to allow her stay with us at my parents house until we can pick up our own feet and save up and buy a house. So that was one letter we given in. I didn't know we can write like multiple letters like that from close friends if no one participated in the wedding. I really just went ahead with what the lawyer suggested for me to submit.

I also read at that time they don't want so much paper work, so I reduced as much text, WhatsApp message as possible too. I mean I gave like 100 pages of text messages I believe. But at the wedding we had civil wedding. And the translator and 2 witnesses were there and signed as well. I got their identifications as well and sent them along.
