@YULIA-2016

Ecas status changed for Parents in Law from We received your application to sponsor XXXXXXXXXXXXX on April 26, 2019 to: We started processing your application on June 7, 2019.

The first application still shows: We received your application to sponsor XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX on April 26, 2019.
Congratulations. By the way did you get AOR email for the "in-process" application? Just confirming if they are sending AOR email for applications linked to online account.

Hello all, I submitted my application on May 29th, it was received by CIC office June 3rd. I am starting to worry as my ECAS status not showing anything? Anyone has any idea how long it takes to update the ecas after application submission?

Hello everyone,

I want to sponsor my parents to become permanent resident of Canada and I have already received the invitation from CIC to submit my application. I am a Canadian citizen living and working in Canada and I need to have my husband (who is also a Canadian Citizen) as the co-signer for this application. My husband's job has recently moved to the US and he is working there under TN visa status (NAFTA agreement). He travels to the US for work and comes back home (Canada) every other week for a few days to visit me and our child. He is keeping his Canadian residency, and is paying income tax both in the US and Canada.

I was wondering if he is eligible to be my co-signer in my parents sponsorship application even though his physical presence in Canada is limited.

Thanks for your help!
Your husband’s current income from the US would not count towards LICO. He is working and living in the US and visiting his family in Canada. He has to pay taxes in Canada because his spouse and children live in Canada.

The fact that he is working in the US on a TN visa means that he is not reside primarily in Canada. IRCC has access to entry exit record and can check it easily. Paying tax doesn't change the fact that he is not primarily living in Canada. It only works for people who pay roll is in Canada but travel outside for business trips, not the other way round

Hi Folks,
Once parent's get their PR (Visa stamped), within how many months they have to do the landing in Canada ? And how long they have to stay in Canada continuously to maintain the status ? Where can I find the conditions for PGP Permanent residence.
TIA.

Both parents would get their PRs not just one. Usually have 1 year from their medical to land but the expiry date should be on their COPR. Same RO apply to all PRs. Currently it is 2 out of 5 years. Health coverage has separate residency obligations.

730 days within the period of 5 years. They do not have to be consecutive.
