I really need help with work experince calculation. On CIC website it says below

  • full-time at more than 1 job: 30 hours/week for 12 months at more than 1 job = 1 year full time (1,560 hours)

For part-time work, you can work more or less than 15 hours/week as long as it adds up to 1,560 hours.

I was working working part time from August 2012 to March 2018. I worked 20hrs/week from Aug 2012 to Dec 2015, then worked 16hrs/week till end of my employment. So, in total I worked for 5076hours in 5 years and 7 months during my part time job.

So, based on the last paragraph stated on the CIC website ( For part-time work, you can work more or less than 15 hours/week as long as it adds up to 1,560 hours.), can I claim 3 years work experience, since 3 x 1560hrs=4680hrs and I worked more than that? TIA for your input guys. Really appreciate it

Yes. I was a student when I started working part time.

i think you told me few days back that its not valid even 1 day before ??

I replied later... it was a misunderstanding... I believe we were both talking about the need to do another biometrics if you already had one, even if it was recently done.
And yes.. the fact remains that for permanent residence application; you MUST do a biometrics even if you recently had one and is still valid for a temporary residence purpose.
My question now is the timing.... can it be done upfront before submitting an application?

I really don't know what more you are expecting though but this is not the kind of CRS score you should be doubting on.... trust me even if there's a 2 months break... you chances are still bright!!

I have similar work experience calculation where I was working between 60-85 hours/month in a course of 2.5 years. So I calculated my average weekly hours (mentioned it in the job experience letter, further explanation can be provided in the LOE) and my full-time experience came down to a bit more than a year. So I think yes, you can claim three years in your case...but I am not sure about the student status since you cant claim work experience if you were a student.

Well honestly me and cic have been playing this game of hide and seek for some 2 years now, I entered the express entry pool with a score of 447 on the 3rd of feb and was expecting an ita straight away, the trauma of missing out on multiple draws was diluted once I had my masters result and than later sent it for an eca under the rush service provided by CES, got the profile updated on the 2nd of May missing out on the draw the previous day and since than the wait has been painful.

According to above page, I think you can't do it upfront before submitting application because u need to bring confirmation letter or something from CIC which they will give u after u get AOR and request to do biometrics by CIC.

I understand how your are feeling, but they have to make another draw sooner or later, and last time when CRS was above 479 was on
October 12, 2016 with a CRS score of 484. So there is need for you to worry any more as you did on 447.

Is this student status thing applies to overseas work experience as well or only for canadian work experience? Because even if I have 3 years work experience, my score won't reach 470s as I only have 8777 in IELTS? How do u think I will have score of 470s range?

Yes. I was a student when I started working part time.

Okay. The experience during your student period does not count. You can count only the experience you gained on your work permit. You cannot count your coop too if you have one. The count starts only from the day you entered on your work permit or the time you applied for your work permit after your studies

Okay. So does this rules applies to overseas work experience as well as I did not study in Canada.
