I'm actually posting for a friend who's not tech savvy in any shape or form. But reply to me as if I were them.

Guys my study permit expired last OCTOBER. In 2015. WHAT DO I DO NOW?!! CAN I STILL REAPPLY FROM WITHIN THE COUNTRY? I REALLY CAN'T AFFORD TO FLY OUT AND BACK AND START AGAIN WHEN I CAN JUST CONTINUE. PLEASE ANYTHING IS APPRECIATED!!!

When did your friend's study permit expire? The date is extremely important. If it is less than 90 days as of Monday, your friend can apply to restore their status back to a study permit (the application must reach CIC before the 90 days passes).

If it's more than 90 days since your friend's status in Canada expired, it's too late to apply for anything from within Canada. The only option is to leave.

Just to add - hope your friend isn't working or attending school since the status expired. If so, then it's quite possible restoration will be refused and he'll be forced to leave Canada.

No she's hasn't been working or anything. It's past the 90 days and she doesn't want to leave. What are her last resort options to keep her here and renew it?

If she's past the restoration period, there are no options.

Nothing even a lawyer can do?

There's absolutely nothing a lawyer can do. A lawyer can't change the law.

Again, it's too late. If she wants to restore her status in Canada then she needs to leave the country as a first step.

That's called being an illegal immigrant. If she's caught, she may be removed and banned from Canada.

If she wants to be able to stay in Canada, then she needs to leave and reapply. Staying only makes things worse, as the longer she stays, the worse it gets.

Help help plz
My study permit expired 5days ago what i had to do plzzz reply
If you want to continue as student you need to apply for restoration.
Keep in mind you cant study/work while waiting for restoration decision.
Talk to your immigration advisors in your school.

This is an old thread but here goes...

I came to Canada in Nov of 2019 for Jan session in a diploma college.I had not attended any of the classes as the college did not turn out to be what I expected and I wanted to change the DLI.

Today I received an expulsion letter from the college and they have told me that they will also proceed to report my academic absence to IRCC.

I have 90 days to change my dli...but it is also written that if and when reported my study permit becomes invalid.

What do I do?Is it a major issue can I not just change DLI into a better college with a pgw and apply for a new permit?

You cant just live in the country on a study permit and not study, you have been in violation this entire time. Exactly what will happen is difficult to tell, you should get a new LOA immediately and update your DLI on myCIC page. You might be able to get in somewhere in May since a lot of students will drop out cause they dont want to study online or cant make it to Canada. You might face issues with PGWP in the future if they ask about this period you were doing nothing.

Thanks for the reply.
I have replied to my advisor and told him that im looking to defer into another programme so
So far it seems that my application has not been reported and the ninety days rule has not started for me as of yet.

Will this become a major issue?Since it seems I have not been reported. The college just wants me to continue my studies with them

What were you doing for last 6 months if not studying? Did you pay the fees for Jan session? Make the decision soon - whether you want to study with this college or want to switch to another college. You can’t wait indefinitely.
