Hi,
I called CIC call center but the agent did not help. He said they are reviewing applications received in Oct and I need to wait till I get the acknowledgement. I asked if he can check with client ID or receipt number, but he said I need to wait. :(
My app was received on 28-Jan.
I realize that IRCC has been processing things faster as of late, but IMO you are calling way too early. I am a December applicant and got my AOR1 after 60 days. You really shouldn't be worried at all until we get to the end of March.

I honestly don’t think it’s the right time to call. The whole application is about being patient and calling them does not fast forward your process time (unless you’re passing the 12 months waiting time), and there’s nothing they can do at this stage either.

Please please please wait at least 60 days before calling to ask for your AOR details.

Quick/dumb question..

When I use ecas, I use the option of receipt number for identification. The receipt number from the fee receipt which I paid for my wife's application.
Our application was delivered on January 31st.

For the rest of the details (surname, dob etc) I am entering my wife's details. Is this the right way?
not seeing anything come up yet (just being greedy me lol)
You can use either your details or your wife's (I actually always recommend just using the sponsor's as that way you see both sides). In my experience, only those people who already had a UCI from a prior application are able to link in advance of AOR1. For anyone else (i.e. citizens with no prior UCI), it will probably only let you link the same day or day before your actual AOR1.

I wasn't sure about this so I decided to call CRA directly. I asked the rep directly if I should not claim the tax credits for my spouse since she has never been a Canadian resident. He said that I still can claim even if she has never lived in Canada. So in my case I went ahead and claimed for it based on the information I got from the CRA rep.

I see that one of the CPA here said that we cannot (that does makes sense however). I haven't received the return yet as I filed last week. So lets see what happens or if they ask me to return the amount later this year.

Yes you can claim the eligible dependent/spouse credit on your taxes even if they never stepped a foot in Canada as long you financially support them.
CRA never really ask proof of financial support but they can if they want to.
But make sure you don't claim GST and Trillium for your spouse. That what mess up things. I guess our CPA friend confused non refundable tax credits with gst and trillium benefits. FYI I'm a personal and business tax specialist.
Hope this helps.

Thanks! This is very helpful as well as the google doc link.

In my case, I don’t have a last name listed on passport. Can someone confirm if they have been able to link ecas without a last name (two first names). Any suggestions on what should be tried?
You can use either sponsor’s or PA’s information to log in ECAS.
(You can see more details using sponsor’s info to log in)

In this case you can try your soupse’s information to log in if he/she has a last name.

Yes AOR should be sent to you very soon. But it seems like THIS WEEK they haven’t been sending out to anyone yet, so just be patient because your AOR is already on its way;)

You sir/mam are a pearl!! I just went back to ECAS and entered my info using my UCI number from 2017 and booom!
Sponsorship application - in process
Permanent Residence Application (PRA)= in process

When I click on the "In Process" against PRA it takes me to a page with a line "We received *my wife's name*'s application for permanent residence on January 31st, 2019.

Not sure if I should consider this as AOR1 but it made my day nevertheless!!!

Many thanks for that peach of a hint :)

Yeah, you are an example of someone who is able to link a lot earlier because you have a prior UCI. You should expect to receive your AOR1 once you see a line in eCAS under sponsor application status saying "We started processing your application on {date}"

Haha! I feel the enthusiasm! Glad I could make your day! And always happy to be called a pearl (or a peach) ;)

That line is not quite AOR1 yet -- as I mentioned above, AOR1 will be when there's a line under sponsor that says "We started processing your application on {date}".

I know, i agree but I was just too anxious. I read in some threads that there is IVR system and you get to know the status with UCI number too, So just tried, but it gave me the option to talk to agent, then i thought, let's check. I just wanted to see if at least they received. I have seen messages where people got info and also temporary file number.
