Hello,
Me and my wife finally submitted her Permanent Residency application last week through Family Class Spouse Sponsorship.
I am hoping for some help in regards to Open Work Permit information, as after submitting the application I have become worried reading some information on PGWP converting to OWP.
I am a Canadian Citizen, she is currently on a Post Graduation Work Permit here in Canada. She has applied for Inland Spousal Sponsorship. We have also submitted an Open Work Permit application.
Her PGWP expires in June, and from what I have read after we submitted the application is that the PGWP cannot be extended. I did read there is the option for "Bridging Open Work Permit" however, it appears to only be for people applying under the working class immigration, it does not mention eligibility for family class applicants.
Will she get implied Open Work Permit status while we await the decision? Or since PGWP is not eligible for extensions will this not be possible? I cannot find other topics with this same situation, most of the other topics were regarding nominations, or not through Spousal Sponsorship applications, and now I am worried about her PGWP expiring before we receive an Open Work Permit, or if we find out she is ineligible for one while we wait for PR approval due to PGWP not being able to be extended.
Thank you, I appreciate any advice, and I apologize if I did not explain this correctly.
