Hi,

Finally got an update yesterday. Sponsor approval is through and the app has been forwarded for further processing. Hi Yulia, can you please update the excel sheet?

Guys, I noticed that they've truncated my Father's last name in the app. How do you think I get that fixed or should I ignore it?

Hi. My application status lines are almost similar as yours. And it happened exactly same to My Sponsor status changed from IN PROCESS to Application Received last week and today my Parents PR status also changed to Application Received.
I called CIC an they said there are no notes from officer. So dont know what is happending and why its been changing and when we will get SA , PCC and IME request. Please let me know once there is an update at your end.

Yulia Do you have any info on this status change?
This likely means you are approved as sponsor and now PR evaluation of the parents is starting, so application is received by the LVO processing them.

As per CIC officer, Bio metrics are not required for people who submitted PR applications last year. Its applicable from Jan 1 this year.
This is not entirely true. The biometric requirement came into effect mid-year last year (around July I believe), so anyone in second round (like USK) has that rule apply to them.

I see. So that's a new requirement then.
BTW can you send me the cic website link where this new requirement is stated?
Thanks in advance.

This may help.

Now I see per the SS your country is Pakistan. So maybe the biometrics requirement should not apply to you as you applied before Dec 31, 2018 when it came into effect for Asia. Also, in the same link under How to give... it says the below. I would call CIC to confirm why this requirement applies to you and why your parents need to give again. Does not make sense, especially the latter part. Good luck. Keep us posted.
  • If you gave them before as part of an application for a visitor visa, study or work permit
    • your biometrics are probably still valid
    • if so, you don’t have to give your biometrics again. Find out if your biometrics are still valid and when they expire by using the Check Status Tool.

The error is mostly in total family members on the application.
If you are applying and have a co-soponsor then 2+ Your dad+your mom=4 is the correct answer
if you are alone, no cosponsor and two parents =3
if you+cosponsor+mom or dad one person only=3

it will be connected. its easy but you need to answer questions as it is on your application.
for example

applicant place of birth if you entered - town/state
then you need to enter same xxxtown/xxxstate with slash to connect your appliation plus total members on application correct no.

I hope it helps.
You are a genius!!!! Thank you it worked lol. I was putting 1 for number of family members on the application as we are sponsoring her, not thinking that my husband and I should be included in that number!!!

Cool.. So that means we are in same boat. We have exact same timelines. I am thinking next week our status will be changed to DM.

Thanks very much for the link and your insight.

Under the PR Applicants Heading, it does say that we need to provide the Biometrics each time we apply.
The only pain in doing so is to have my parents go back to the home country by this month. They were planning to stay in Canada until June. :(

I've sent a Case Specific Enquiry. Hopefully a visa officer will address it.
Let's see the response. I'll keep everyone posted.

While it does say so on the website, that should presumably only apply to applications made after the date that the rule came into effect (Dec 31, 2018 for Asian countries). I am not sure it should apply to an application made before then, i.e. have retroactive effect. Would this, by extension, mean that applicants from 2017 would need to give biometrics? I would not think so. But keep us posted once you confirm.

Agree with you.

Let's see what the immigration officer has to say. Their verdict, as you know, is the final one.

Thanks for your response.
I did the exact samething last night (sent in a Case Specific Enquiry with the screenshots of Biometric numbers for both parents).

This morning I also talked to the Call center agent.
She looked into my file and mentioned that those Biometrics were for the Supervisa application. Now I have to resubmit new Biometrics for the PR application. This sounds odd to me. I'm still waiting for a response on the web enquiry that I made yesterday. Hopefully a visa officer will address that.

By the way, this morning my E-CAS for sponsorship has changed to 'Decision Made' and I've passed the Eligibility criteria as sponsor. @Yulia please update the Spreadsheet.
My LVO will be London (unfortunately it has proven to be slow). So the real fun starts now.
Hi @USK
During the past month, I have noticed that once you submit the biometric for the visa, you will receive a letter indicating This biometric is only for the visa purposes and if you are applying for PR, you need to resubmit your biometric.

If so, where can I take her to do so?

thanks

Apparently you cannot. You need to wait for the biometric Instruction Letter
But double check again
Here's what i found: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/biometrics.asp

If you’re between 14 and 79 years old, you need to give your fingerprints and photo for all permanent resident applications, including:

You have to give your biometrics and pay the fee, even if you gave your biometrics in the past to support a visitor visa, study or work permit application, or a different permanent resident application.

After you submit your application, we’ll send you a letter that says you need to give your biometrics and where to go. You’ll have up to 30 days to go in personto an official biometrics collection service location.

If you apply for permanent residence and are in Canada, you may qualify for an exemption from having to give your biometrics. Find out more in the relevant application guide.

  • If you apply online
    • The letter will go to your account message box if you sent us a complete application and paid the biometrics fee. You’ll get an email to let you know that you have a new message. It can be several days or even several weeks before the email is sent to you.
  • If you apply by mail
    • The letter will get to you by mail several weeks after we get your complete application and your payment for the biometrics fee. The timing of your letter depends on various factors including the speed of your postal service.
Find out more about biometrics: who is exempt, how often you need to give them, how to give them and where to give them.

I am so glad to have found this forum!

Wondering if any of you have any knowledge or opinions on these 2 issue's I can forsee with regards to my MIL's application!

1) Her name on my husbands birth certificate does not match her name: This is common in Dominican Republic where birth certificates were a mess years ago...The father would go and declare the birth and give all the information and in this case he declared the mother using her NICKNAME and last name and not her given name. She does have a visitor visa and we had to submit proof of relationship on that and we submitted the birth certificates as is and were not questioned. I also put the Nick Name in the section that asks if they ever used nick names or aliases. SO question - will they just refuse or will they give us a chance to prove she is in fact his mom with a DNA or something?

2) She is separated from a man (not my husbands father) that she was married too and has been for over 10 years - I see from reading this forum that applicants have been asked to provide separation agreements. What is one does not exist and cannot be obtained as in this case her spouse suffered from Mental health issues and he disappeared and not to be found!

Any insights would be great, that way if there is anything I can do know to prepare for these issues!!

Thanks!
