Activity 1 and 2 are Criminality passed for me and my wife respectively, 3 is 11.2 Met, 4 is Candidate - PNP not met (didn/t apply through PNP), 5 is Candidate - CRS complete.

I just noticed something weird on the outgoing correspondence, Outgoing 1 says application transfered and a bit below it mentions items requested 1. kit, application forms. but it says status not started. let me upload it, however I have not received any ADR ever.

I checked again and I have the same outgoing around the same date (from my last gcms notes).
What I guess is that they sent your file to another group/officer to do your security, but they have forgotten!!!
@Hopeful007
Everyone should pass security, but there are few people who are send for a more in-depth analysis. However, I don't think it is the case for him as there is no sign in the activity or in the notes section. There is no redaction either. If a person is sent to SS, the first 4 activities should be related to SS and gets redacted. Some redaction may be seen in the assessment or notes section as well.
The redaction that he has are probably related to the fact that he didn't provide consent from from his wife

Hey Guys received my CBSA notes few hours back. Funny thing is CBSA notes and last GCMS Notes are exactly same...
In GCMS it was mentioned that security not started but we thought of just double checking in case there was a security related issue. It means our file is not stuck with security, infact it seems like it hasn't gone to CBSA at all and CIC is pondering on the case for the last 8 months for no reason whatsoever cause everything is good in my notes with no adverse remarks anywhere.

So, I did my soft landing this Friday on 15th Feb. There was a discussion few days back on whether Canadian agents are rude or not. And I guess someone mentioned that they would like to assume even when Canadians are rude they are not so rude.

Well, I can report first hand and can tell that not only can they be rude but they can be downright condescending to people. So, just doing the landing kind of gave me a glimpse of why things may be so slow but I won't go there for this post.

So, there was a long queue after the immigration and anyone who has done landing at Toronto airport would know that you are then told to go in to another room where the actual landing process takes place. This room is not exclusive to only PR people but even people coming on student visas, parents visa have to go in there. I don't know what other criteria is there but there was a person who had a US GC and wasn't doing landing and had a connecting flight but was told to go in to this room.

Anyways, the queue was long and one could hear the conversations of the agents with people and two agents were really in their elements. I don't know what was wrong .. may be they were having a bad day but I haven't seen such aggressive, rude, confrontational agents even in USA. I won't disclose details of their gender or looks so as not to prejudice anyone who is reading this.

But below are two samples of their conversation.

There was one old gentleman who was in a wheelchair. One of the agent asked him "Sir, What do you do?". This guy was coming from Dubai and says "I'm an art teacher in Dubai".

Agent - "So you are an art teacher in a Wheelchair? How can you be an art teacher in Wheelchair?"

Unfortunately, it is difficult to really tell tone of the agent here. It was not nice, to say the least. I was shocked the way the comment was made / question asked. I just couldn't believe my ears and I looked around and people behind me in the queue had same expression of disbelief on their face.

Sample 2: I don't know why a person who is already a PR is sent to this room. Anyhow, this person was already a PR. Below was the conversation

Agent: Where do you live?
Person: Brampton
Agent: What was your category in which you immigrated
Person: PNP
Agent: Which Province?
Person: Manitoba
Agent: So you were nominated by Manitoba .. how are you living in Brampton?
Person: I couldn't find job there and then I got job here so I moved here?
Agent: "Don't bull shit me" ..(Yes this was said) How can you say there are no jobs there? There are so many jobs there
.....
And this went on and on for few minutes.

The agent was so confrontational. Okay my knowledge may be limited here but as far as I know the agent had no business in asking the person why he moved to some other province and even if it is allowed I don't know why it had to be that way.

By this time almost everyone waiting in the queue was praying not to get these agents. Luckily, someone came around and asked all the people waiting to go around (In Toronto there are windows at the back as well where Service Canada office is). There were three agents there and really polite. The agent who did paperwork for us was really good as well. So, personally my experience wasn't bad apart from the long wait which I think could have been avoided.

On the return journey, I was a little skeptical and was expecting to get a little hard time from US agents as I had to enter on a Automatic Visa Revalidaton. But the agent on US side was extremely sweet. Didn't even ask questions like why you went to Canada? Why you were there etc etc. Saw the documents did the job in 2 minutes.

So yeah in the end agents (or Canadians in general) are people and all kind exist anywhere in the world.
I read your post and I must admit that it's not reassuring. I am now in disbelief too, not that I believed they were all angels but the events you described in your post are very disconcerting and that's my reason for disbelief.

I would surely respond if my spouse or I were spoken to like that.

In the first scenario, it goes without saying that that agent was way out of line and shouldn't be an agent in the first place. That must have been demeaning to the guy in the wheelchair, if I were around, I would have stood up for him (if things went further than that).

As to the second scenario, the "don't bullshit me" thing could just be a casual talk or downright rude, like you said, the tone and the face expression count here.

Was it not possible to film that ?

Agents like that should definitely be reported.

This is definitely not something I would have wanted to read just days before landing.

How long was the wait ?

The tone of the agents only matters in the second case.

In my opinion, as there were many witnesses to that, it should be reported and others could come forward to corroborate.

What you wrote in your post indicates that the things I read in google reviews of Toronto Pearson are almost all true.

When you soft land, take a new passport photo in Canada and leave it at your friends address incase CIC asks you for new passports for your PR card, that way your PR card can be brought to you by friends or family visiting your country of residence. It will be couriered from Canada (DHL/FEDEX)
PRTDs are gotten quite easily. A colleague of mine got his with amazing speed and there was no need to apply for it on humanitarian basis (I don't even understand why you asked this tbh). It's just like a visa which you kind of are entitled to as a landed PR without your PR card. so don't fret too much about it.
In Part 2 Residency Obligation of the PRTD form I have to answer Q 19 because I would have lived only 3 weeks. see attached form
https://www.canada.ca/content/dam/ircc/migration/ircc/english/pdf/kits/forms/imm5524e.pdf

Since you'll be away for months after you land, there's a very high chance your PR card will be ready and can be brought to you by someone travelling to your base (as I explained earlier).
Have you heard if any one was asked to collect PR cards personally?

There is nothing to worry as such. As I said the officer who did my formalities was very respectful and did the job in very nice manner. Or rather all 3 officers on the side of Service Canada were the same way. Even on this side just one of the officers was really obnoxious. It happens in almost all the airports around the world and that was the reason I didn't want to provide any more details about the agents so as not to prejudice anyone else here. It could simply be that they were having a bad day and that happens to everyone of us.
Objective of the post was just to say any generalization positive or negative should not be done .. as I said before at the end it comes down to people (or individual) and you can find every kind in every community or country.

About the wait .. it took us just over 3 hours from line at first immigration -> Landing formalities -> Service Canada -> Customs -> Out of airport. Not sure if people are able to leave airport earlier than this. May be this is the normal timeline. It felt long(ish) because most experiences I read here make it feel like it was done in under an hour. But it could be just timing of the flight as well. So this may be different on different days and hours.

Are you back in USA now? I am looking to do soft landing in May and was wondering what's the procedure for AVR.

The wait could be due to hundreds of flight cancelations because of the snow storm. It would be great if you could write about your landing experience, if customs checked bags etc.

I know there are many landing experiences in the forum but something fresh would be great.

Anyways, congrats on becoming a PR and see you in Canada.

Yes back. AVR at Toronto airport was pretty simple really. The US immigration counters are at the airport itself. The officer knew what AVR was. I was asked for updated I797 and no questions were asked. I don't know if that is a standard experience or not but for me it was just too smooth.

Thanks. My case is little different. Ofcourse I have I797 but I never went out of the country since I switched from F1 to H1b. Having said that, I've valid I797, so hopefully it won't be a problem
