Do you have to link either one or is it optional ?
I used my application number as that's global to both the sponsor and the applicant. Then in the data fields provide the applicant's details.

Was this for gckey account or ecas. Please clarify
GCKEY, for ECAS you don't link anything, you just use the application number, and sponsor details to view an overview of your file.

So for GCKEY linking:

  1. Choose Application Number and Family Name - Copy/paste application number from email (including the F) and enter PA's last name
  2. Select one of two options next: Place of Birth or Passport Details
  3. Fill PA's info for the option you selected above and not both at the same time
  4. Put the Details of the City where the PA plans to reside after getting PR, this info should match with what you put in form IMM0008
  5. Put your marital status in.
  6. Put '2' as the number of members in the application for sponsor + spouse (add +1 per dependents)
  7. NOTE: Sometimes putting MARITAL STATUS as SINGLE also works.
I found my passport details didn't work, but the Place of birth worked the first time.

If this fails, people have suggested putting a space after your place of birth.

I was just confused as I thought it was supposed to be done through the embassy, but that's only if I do it from OUTCAN I realised. Guess was still half asleep this morning when I read the letter :D:D

But with my wife's trip coming up, I hope the embassy doesn't take too long to generate the letter. She will be able to get everything done next week but her mother will have to pick it up and send it to me so I can upload it after I get them translated here in the US.

P.S. Just received SA as well. Wohoo, it's moving faster than I thought now :)

Hi!

I checked ECAS today using the sponsor’s information and status says decision made. What is this all about and what’s next after this?

for those who are interested in non-standard stories and actively following this forum:

I’ve got my SA today too! …and new grey hairs :)

Two days after AOR1, my application status was changed from “in process” to “cancelled” in GCkey. No mail received. I had discovered it while was checking GCkey. Day after my app disappeared from ECAS… oh nooooo :(

In GCkey I found an explanation of all statuses. IRCC confirmed this as administrative mistake and recommended to wait for a new AOR. … Long 10 days waiting o_O

And yesterday late evening I got biometrics payment request with new number. Yippee!!!
No new AOR mail, but SA today for new application number!

So, if you are lack of adrenalin IRCC “Rescue Rangers” helps you :D
