Guys, please help clarify what exactly will indicate one is at IP2 stage? Am also AOR Dec 5. With biometric completed, medical passed and 'we are processing your background check'. What exactly will show am on IP2 please?

IP1 is when Background Check states : "Your application is in progress. We will send you a message when we start your background check".
and IP2 if Background Check is : "We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information."

You are in IP2 but if IP2 is from the day one (i.e. since your AOR or close to that) then it won't tell you much. This happens with biometrics required and CEC applicants. Keep an eye on ghost update in next few days. I have read in this thread itself that ghost update for some IP2 applicants (Those who got IP2 since start) is kind of giving an indication of start of actual background check.

I have been at this stage 'We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information." since after biometric.

I am still in IP1 and expecting my IP2 next week based on my AOR (5th Dec). However, I did not pay RPRF upfront and was requested RPRF on 29th Jan. So, not sure if my transition from IP1 to IP2 will be normal. Though I expect it to be normal because I am in IP1 since I have MEP.

We have almost the same timeline (mine was AOR 5th Dec, received RPRF and paid it on the same day)

We have the same timeline. I am FSW-O, family of 4, paid PRRF upfront, submitted biometrics on Jan 28 (required on Jan 22) and My background check status has been like "We are processing your background check..." since AOR. I notice that several applicants from October and November are still waiting so we can just follow them and keep praying.

Knowing your visa office doesn't really matter much anymore because visa offices do not play a central role in the processing of your application, according to @legalfalcon. The local visa office has played an increasingly smaller role since the EE changes of 2015.

He believes that most of the processing now takes place in this fashion:

1. Initial processing, R10 check, medicals and criminality at CIO, Sydney, Nova Scotia
2. Eligibility is conducted at one of the four CPCs or case processing centers around Canada; CIO is also processing eligibility in limited numbers
3. Your local visa office (LVO) is normally where you have to mail in your passport following your PPR

The bulk of the processing occurs at CIO Sydney (NS) and one of the four CPCs, of which CPC Ottawa is the most significant one.

A final eligibility review of the application is apparently carried out at your LVO before eligibility is finally set to passed.

Deals with Specialized permanent resident application. Those following in the category of Medical needs, work permits, work permits for spouses, study permits, co-op permits. EE applications which have a downgraded category.

This is the place where you EE application will land if any of the members in the application have a medical condition. This is where determinations of refusal, monitoring etc are made.

Now has started doing eligibility for EE applications in limited numbers.

Since my medicals are still under review according to TB follow up.

It's not a link in your signature, but it is in your post. When you edit your signature, it's just like a post. You can highlight the words you want to be the link and then click the link button (looks like a chain link). It will ask for the URL and then you can insert it and it will make the highlighted words a link. I hope this helps.

Please stop freaking out about IP1 to IP2. You are Dec 11 AOR. I am Dec 1 AOR. I just went to IP2 on Wednesday. Your timeline is fine. Relax. Breathe.

To echo @USProgrammer, IP1/2 may not even be a thing for most applicants because of the requirement to provide biometrics and/or not having paid RPRF upfront.

As a courtesy to all other members, please read to the left and right before posting. Go back maybe 10 pages to understand the context of what's being discussed, and it is very likely you will find your question has been answered already. We are all volunteering our time here to help each other so let's focus on actually trying to answer questions as opposed to repeating them ad infinitum.
