My feeling tells me that your processing time all depends on how long it takes to do your background checks. You may get called for test and interview at any time while they are still doing these checks and then have to wait ages for your Oath. Or maybe they'll call you for the test after the checks are done and the oath comes quickly after that. It's not a first come first serve process at all. Every case is different and the time it takes to process is different.
Thanks for you reply @bucajack. I called them early November and they said my background checks were done and is all clear. If I may, what form of correspondence do they prefer? E-mail or snail mail? I'm in no great rush, just curious on the process. Thanks

if you put an email address on your application form all correspondence will be to that address. Unfortunately if you contact them to ask they will just give you standard answers until you pass the 12 month mark.

The huge discrepancy in process times is largely down to the different working speeds and backlogs of each individual processing office. Once you go in process its only helpful to compare with others who are also in the same location as you.

In my own case, here in New Brunswick, they had a huge backlog of applications and we were told at interview it was because they were down from 3 processing agents, to just 1 and when it became very bad, they sent some processing agents down from Montreal for 2 or 3 days to blitz through the backlog in a huge production line of tests and interviews. I, like all of us here am an April applicant and did my test on November 21st, but at my test, there were many January and February applicants who despite applying months earlier, where no further ahead.

Hi guys, I have following situation.

Yesterday I received AOR from CIC for my wife & me. However, wife 's AOR reflects her before marriage name which we filled during our PR application in back 2014. During PR process we have changed her passport with married name to Local Canadian consulate in India & got PR Visa & CO-PR with married name itself. After in Canada,we received all Canadian ID proofs with her married name only (e.g SIN card, PR Card, Driving License, Health Card etc). In short, she never uses her before marriage name at anywhere except her PR application. Also, during citizenship app she used her married name with all required supporting doc but don't know why such thing occured.

So I am just wondering how should I approach CIC to update their system with her current married name ? also, how should I connect CIC through phone or request letter ? and when will be best time to contact (means when they assign processing office to my file & transfer to local IRCC office or before that) ?

Looking forward some expert advice on this, so my case wont get unnecessary delay :)

eCas will not update when you send in the fingerprints, or so I've read elsewhere. It will next update when it sends you the test invitation or they require more documentation. You can, however, send a web form inquiry asking if they received the finger prints to make sure they got them.

Is there an email available to request feedback on the status of your application?

I understand they are busy but I've noticed some users sent their app after me and have made more progress
Hiya Welsh, I'm in London too! I'm a Feb 2018 applicant and I STILL haven't gotten my test invite either. The lone Jan 2018 applicant got their test invite early November of 2018 and only just got their Oath Invitation very recently, so I can only hope we get ours soon enough. Keep in mind as well there is 1 Dec 2017 applicant who hasn't even received their Test Invite yet, but it's possible they have yet haven't bothered to log in. Speaking of not bothering to do stuff, don't bother messaging IRCC- I did and all I got was a super generic response with no new information than what's available at eCas. Also keep in mind that as recent as 3 years ago a 2 year processing time was considered normal.

Hi folks,
I have a quick question, if there is any changes in our family like addition of a new born, are we supposed to inform CIC ? Our status is decision made and waiting for oath now.
TIA

I don't think you need to inform CIC about your new born. If the baby was born in Canada, he/she is already Canadian citizen, thus in a way has nothing to do with your citizenship application. However, if the baby was born outside Canada then I think you need to inform them. Expect delay in your application processing because of this.
Other members please correct me if I am wrong.
