I have seen cases moved to IP2 having Criminality passed but Eligibility is still under review/recommended pass. Though it can be said that chances of rejection are slimmer.
Seems those who moved to IP2 after waiting a while in IP1 (2-3 months onward) signifies Criminality has been passed and BGC & Security initiated

Hi. I thought BGC check itself means security and criminality checks? If criminality is already passed, what other background checks do they carry out again aside security checks? Kindly educate me

Criminality is the shorter one i guess as its what the PCC covers..Security is the more serious one,it checks if you pose a threat to the county in anyway most especially if you come from some parts of the world.

These days, there is no set pattern anymore. They do not want us to understand the process.

I am not the right guy to educate as i also know very little about their procedure. I wrote based on what i found in this forum as many IP2 folks called CIC and they were told that they passed criminality on the date they moved to IP2 but security check is in progress. please see previous posts of others.

Agreed. saw in many posts that security check also involves official agencies of other countries if required

%age statuses by month as per Immitracker. Based on my past experience on reaction to this post will start with following disclaimer points :D:D
  • Yes the immitracker data may not be accurate. As we all know not everyone updates the data there. But I think it is okay. In practical world decisions are taken everyday based on a sample of a data set.
  • If you feel - “Oh I could list N reasons the data is not the right sample" … well yeah I know that BUT unless someone can give us better data, this is all we have. So let’s make peace with it.
  • Immitracker ignores inactive cases. And yes it does impact %ages. However, I think immitracker is correct in ignoring inactive cases.
  • I stand corrected on above. On 9th October there were a lot of cases which went inactive and hence were messing up the %age trends. I was not tracking active cases on regular basis as the numbers didn't change much. But to keep consistency I have now used active case number as on 21st Sep (as that is the only week I had captured number of active cases)
  • Having said all of above, I think this data can still be used to see trends which are useful. The %ages may not be accurate but overall movement is definitely indicative of progress
  • And lastly, if you disagree just ignore!

My Observations

  • Although we didn't see a lot of PPRs on the forum, but June seems to have moved. May be these people are not on this forum ... BUT June is still 10% behind at the same time compared to May. I think this %age could have been high in case all those "approved" cases actually ended up with PPR.
  • July and August seem to follow the trend.
  • It is clear from the data the actual slow down has happened post April.
Here is my theory what may have caused it .. its pure conjecture so take or don't take it seriously depending on your personal preference.

I think till March / Beginning April Ottawa was processing most cases for US / Canada and only cases which required additional review were mostly assigned to the other smaller VOs. As the volume of applications increased, these smaller VOs also started getting normal applications to process. But I think no one told them that now they are getting normal applications to process as well. And since the 6 month timeline didn't apply to review required applications these VOs don't realize they are sitting on applications which need to be finished within 6 months. And hence the delay.

With this I hope everyone has a great weekend. And may be a bunch of PPR are on their way and people will receive them over the weekend. In any case let's hope for a better next week!
So, what do you mean by saying 6 month timeline didn't apply to review required applications?

They exclude those applications from their 80% under six month timeline calculations. There is a possibility a review required application gets PPR in 6 month timeline. But in recent times many such applications are experiencing delays.

My eligiblity is under "review required" for Proof of Funds, but my stage is IP2 with criminality passed, I have seen most "review required" cases are on IP1 and criminality still not passed. Is it changes something about my proccess?? How does it differ from the average in terms of processing time?

IP1 and IP2 mean nothing. So its not a parameter to judge. As I said there is still a possibility of case being processes in six months. There are few cases on Montreal thread which got PPR in six month timeline after review required and there are cases which are waiting beyond six months as well.

Hello - I'm from the Oct 15/16 IP2 group. Post last week's call, I called again today, to confirm why there is a delay, although application has been approved on 22nd October. The lady told me that my file is currently lying with CIC and no Local Visa Office / Visa Office (didn't hear too clearly) has been assigned yet. On prodding further, she told me the file is currently at Sydney NS - I'm assuming that is Nova Scotia. She said this delay happens if there's a huge volume of files at the LVO / VO (but then I was thinking to myself - so many July AoRs getting their PPRs). Finally she dropped a bomb saying - there is no delay we are well within the 6 month timeline, you 'may' get the communication by first/second week of December.

Well, I just don't know what to say! The delay is kinda irritating now.

@CoolSandy @ishq74 @Venki7 @Sydney2018 @NareshC @Micky345 @cansha - Guys FYI

Don’t take the six month thingy too seriously. That’s what they are asked to say. There is no way they can predict when the email will be triggered as that’s not in their domain. I think if a VO looks at those applications you should get PPR immediately. We can only hope and pray that it happens soon and may be today itself.

Thanks for the info @Donald Trumppp and well I feel like they don’t even know for real... they just say whatever they are told to and have no idea if or why there is a delay. It’s almost like, can you pronounce “you are within your 6 months timeline”? yeah, HIRED!
