You should be able to track on the VFS site. They give you the link on the receipt.
Also sms & email updates.

Application received at CPC Mississauga: November 2, 2017.
Medical Request : February 20, 2018.
Birth Certificate & Police Certificate Request: May 2, 2018.
File Transferred to NDVO: May 19, 2018.
NDVO started Processing my Application: May 22, 2018.
Pre Arrival Service Letter: September 5, 2018.
DM & PPR: October 29, 2018.

I am december applicant and still waiting for DM and PPR. I have applied by myself. I do not know why NDVO is too slow giving DM

How long does it take to get atip note (access to information and privacy act) from IRCC. It says it takes 30 calendar days to get it but it has been 31 days since I requested not recieved it.

My wife got her passport stamped a few weeks back for PR . She had a visiting visa which was valid for another 2 years . I thought NDVO will cancel it when the passport gets stamped for PR . But they didn’t touch it. Is that a problem.

By Default, your visitor visa become invalid. They dont need to do anything on that, they may strike out your PR visa during landing process. so no worries. Please post your time line on the passport submission process.
