If the Conservative party becomes the leader of the government, would it impose uniformity on the immigration policies like 2012? I am worried about it. If we could not receive ppr, would our cases be cancelled in the future.:(

They cancelled all skilled immigrants whose applications did not finished.
That was a different scenario. There were around a quarter million applications in queue, some as old as four years.

Things are different now, and the current streams we´re under were created by the Conservative government. The Trudeau administration has just tweaked it. I don´t believe such move will be repeated as the way it happened six years ago.

What I DO believe is that a Conservative government will probably promote heavy changes to the refugee claims and humanitarian and compassionate streams, specially for the claimants that applied at the border. Those should expect obstacles.

I hope so

Thank you
Similar situation for me.

Background check started on July 5th, no updates since that. AOR May 30th.

Do not know the reason, but no matter when I call IRCC, they keep saying high volume of calls. I ordered notes 4 weeks ago. I think I should have it by next Monday, or I will follow up.

Agree with most of the post but the last line IS FACTUALLY INCORRECT. GCMS notes do not impact processing time in any way.
Hello,

When I spoke with the officer she explained to me that when I asked for my notes, the file is sent to a different department to process my report request. By requesting these notes, she explained, this causes all work, that may be going on to to stop, while they are putting this report together.

Why she would explain this to me, I do not know, but she claims she was doing me a favor by telling me this. She did not have to tell me this, if she did not want to. When we think about it, her divulging this information was not in her best interest to tell me, so I guess it would have been in mine. Whether true or not, it's something to think about for those of use waiting for our loved ones.

What I did notice in my notes is that each of my calls were documented and what the result of each call determined, therefore, I can hypothesize that if I were to ask for my GCMS notes again, we will see that a different department and agent will have to process this report/request, which I do believe holds up the process, while the agent insures that what information is given to me is correct and accurate for legal purposes.

With that said, I will think twice about asking for my GCMS notes in the future, because what she explained to me does make sense. Or else people will be asking for GCMS notes all the time and they will be sent out notes without covering themselves. I imagine if they were not careful with how they send this information, they could have some horrendous legal complaints and for this reason, it takes so long to send individuals this information.

I waited almost a month for mine and there is a fee, although not much.:eek::eek:

Who is this officer? You mean the call center agent or IRCC officer working on files? Whoever she is .. she is not doing any favor to you... Its like 1000 times opposite of it by giving misinformation. Yes calls to agents get logged but that's an automated system. They enter in the system against your file number and they appear. No one is stopping any process to do so.

And by your post the file is being touched by multiple people then who is this officer who is stopping work. The amount of BS that she has doled out is unbelievable. The GCMS note generation is nothing more than a click of a button. Talk to anyone who understands IT systems and he will tell you the same thing.

She explained that when we request GCMS notes it holds up the process and then went into further detail, which I have already explained. If it's simply a click of a button, then why on earth does it take them a month to send it via email?

I called the 1-800 number for Canadians and explained to the agent, who was French, that I had ordered my GCMS notes, but also wanted a verbal update on my file and that was why I was calling. She gave me the verbal information/status of our application, which was vague and not anything that I didn't already know. I pray that "you" are right and the fact that I requested these notes does NOT cause a delay in our application and I hope that she is 100% "incorrect", if your right, that is fantastic, because the waiting is horribly emotional. All I can say is this, what was explained to me, if she had sinister intentions, by telling me this, then that is sad and I hope the call was recorder.
