Hi all potential Canadian citizens!
Well, well, I'm getting prepared all my papers for the citizenship application that I'm planning to send this weekend. (hope, it doesn't take too long as Canada Post is fighting for their right and I need their service urgently)
I just recently had a chance to talk to someone who recently got her citizenship in Aug, 2018 and to my surprise, it only took her 4 months for the whole process. I just couldn't believe how fast it can take instead of the full 12 months. I'm prepared to wait for 12 months, which is super long...………… but what can I do and after I heard her story, I just keep thinking about maybe these days citizenship applicants are not as many and things have become faster.
Just wanted to hear from more cases, if there is any, here.
Please?
and Thank you!

I'm an October 2017 applicant, the busiest month ever for IRCC, and I got mine in 4.5 months, super lucky, but most of my friends who applied pretty much at the same time in the same city waited a few months more.

You can't really predict the time it will take for you. 2 very similar applications in apparence will often need very different durations. Expect the 12 months period, take anything less as a nice bonus, don't stress over others being faster than you and don't rule out that it could take more than a year.

Good luck! :)

If there was anything an applicant would do for faster processing and it was open knowledge, then everyone would do it thereby negating the thing. I dont think there is a secret tip other than common sense things like - fill the application correctly and comply with the process.

Also look at the timeline spreadsheet to get an idea.

Processing timeline differs from application to application. Like Amitdi said, do the right thing.
If you start to focus on a few applicants getting lucky; the desire of getting in and out quickly, MIGHT surprisingly bring a lot of emotional trauma..
good luck with your application.

That’s what I thought 4 months into my application process when started seeing people getting their case finalized .... well, one year later I am still waiting and no longer think that way lol - it depends a lot on your luck. Think of it as reversed lottery: most people would probably get it done quite fast, but there are always a few that will be unlucky and get trapped for a long wait

Thanks everyone for taking your time to write your opinions.
I finally sent mine today. Took longer than I thought to finish up all the paper (you know, double check and double check). I feel good that I finally sent and all I have to do is nothing but wait.
I like that this is going to be my last step into making Canada home. No more verification. No more tracking down all my addresses and traveling history. Good to everyone here!
