Anyone know how long the background check takes? Also when i contacted IRCC via call the automatic msg stated,” we’re checking if you meet the eligibility.” Don’t they check that before asking for medical?

BGC can take anywhere from 1 day to 5-6 months, we dont have any insight into what causes long BGC. it can take longer for certain unknown factors.

the call message will continue to say we're checking your eligibility even after BGC is complete, just ignore it.

can you please share your timeline

Hey everyone,

I had my lawyers sent in my spousal sponsorship application on June 19th. Since then we have not received any communication whatsoever.

I am sponsoring my wife who is in Islamabad.

Anyone in the same boat? More than 3 months and no AOR? Is this normal or should I ask my lawyers to send a letter or something to IRCC Mississauga?

Also, I wanted to ask, can you Only link the spousal application online when IRCC sends you AOR? Or can I link it before without an application number? Thank you

you can only link online after you get AOR1. but if you have a lawyer then yoy wont be able to link it online since lawyer is your representative

October 2nd 2017 applicant.
It’s been exactly a year today to our application. Feeling so disheartened and disappointed.

We have been stuck in BGC for 1.5 months now

My background check took 11 days. The person you are sponsoring, do they have an extensive travel history? My wife had never travelled outside of Pakistan so perhaps that's why the background check wasn't so extensive .

My husband did his masters in Malaysia, maybe that’s why. But he has not travelled anywhere else, really hoping and praying that we hear soon, as our BGC has been happening almost 1.5 months now.

If you're sponsoring your husband, the travel to Malaysia could explain why. Stay courageous!
