hello guys,

I seem to be stuck in a weird situation.

I am currently working in the US and have sufficient funds to show as proof. However I just noticed that I had created this account in the US with my mother almost 6 years ago. She has never used this account and all the funds in it has been from my salary but the statements mention her name as well. The bank , Wells Fargo, does not provide any letter and I was going to show my online statements as proof. This lists my mothers name as well.

An unfortunate situation I have put myself in. Any idea how I can rectify ?

Even if I remove my mother from account now, it will still list her name for earlier months statements .. any idea ??

I believe you can show your payslips to prove the credits in your account. I am in US too and as per my experience all banks provide the letter upon request. Did you try emailing them or call their customer service?

Thanks for the reply. I tried but Wells Fargo doesn’t provide unfortunately. Yeah I thought of pay stubs too .. I mean the account statement itself would reflect that but still a bit paranoid with my mothers name, who isn’t on my application, showing up in each months statement .. just not sure what’s the rule about this.. is there any mentioned ?

As per my understanding if the joint account holder is not accompanying then you can't show that account as POF. That makes it more tricky in case of mother as a joint account holder. If you don't have another account to show as POF then I would say your best bet is to show statements+pay slips and explain this in LOE.

pof has nothing to do with pay slips. and correct mother can't be on joint account.

I have similar case. I have one seperate account and one joint with mother. I usually keep money in joint account.

I submitted one letter that I have access and control to both the accounts.

I guess that is fine?

Payslips were suggested to show the source of money in his account.
they don't care about the source of money unless it's a big transfer. The account we showed was our savings and didn't have any regular deposits in it. no ones asked for anything.

no it's not. Make sure all the money is in an account in your name. they want to make sure it's YOURS and yours alone

Thanks, I transferred the money back to my single account.

Its been the 4th month after AOR. Do you think did they checked it already or will be checking it?

In case of any issue, will they ask for clarifications?

They might ask you for an updated pof if they want to review what you had. Order your gcms notes

Thanks for the reply. One question which I hope you or anyone else in here can clarify.

If I remove my mothers name from the account now, will that suffice ? Her name might still show up on earlier months statement but at least during time of submission I would be sole account holder in charge of account.

What do you guys think ?

Ok just found that I can’t remove my mothers name from a joint account. Only option is to open a new account with current funds transferred but that would devoid me of the 6 months history.

Stuck between a rock and hard place !!

Which is the better option in your opinion guys ??

1. Maintain existing account with mothers name and explain in LOE.

2. Open new account with sufficient funds but lack of a 6 month history ??

I don't know why Wells Fargo didn't give you such letter. I walked into my Wells Fargo branch here in Pennsylvania and they were more than happy to provide such letter and they had the format already.
Even if you are trying to submit your statements, you will have to get it verified with bank because online statements are not sufficient for POF.
I would suggest you to walk into your branch and talk to your banker, they will definitely be able to help you to get that letter.
