Hi everyone,

I'm applying under the Common-Law Partner Sponsorship program with my Canadian boyfriend (I am Chinese).
We both live in Canada and I have a work permit expire in 2021.

I have question about applying inland or outland:
1. In my case, can we apply outland?
2. Is outland significantly faster than inland?
3. Is it 100% that we will get an interview? What factor decide that we will have an interview? For Chinese, do we have interview in HONGKONG?

Thank you very much!

Hi

1. Yes, you can most definitely apply outland.

2. Yes, outland is generally faster.

3. As you are common-law, there is little chance of an interview being called. If you were called, I believe it would be held in Beijing.

1. You can apply OUTLAND if you decide to reside outside Canada while your application is been processed......if you plan to continue residing in Canada, will advice you should apply INLAND since you are currently in Canada and has a legal status due to work permit expiring in 2021.
This is incorrect. A person living in Canada can most certainly apply outland and has no obligation to apply inland. As OP has a work permit valid for several years and does not need the inland OWP, it makes more sense to apply outland.

Not really, as you are still advising that they apply inland because they are in Canada. OP already has a work permit valid until 2021, has almost no chance of being called for an interview and is not from a country with extreme outland processing times, so outland is the better option.
