Spousal Sponsorship in-land Applications 2017 timeline and updates

Hi sm43226,

I applied for OWP with my spousal sponsorship application. At that time I was very much out of status for almost 5 years.
My representative told me that I will only be given an OWP when I get AIP, however, I received OWP a couple of weeks before I received AIP. My only assumption is that they talk...lol!

Just curious, does AIP mean my application is approved. I know that they're conducting background checks and I am sure that I will pass because I have never committed a crime in my life (except overstaying here - not sure if that's a crime), however, at the end of it all, does it mean that my application can be approved for PR?

Based on what I have read around this forum, AIP means that the principal applicant is "officially" eligible to apply for PR. Now, the visa officer has the right to call you for an interview or request more documentation to confirm your relationship is still valid at present before approval.

How long is it currently taking from AIP to DM and getting the PR?

Still wondering if we should apply for the OWP for my wife (out of status) as we never included it with the sponsorship app last August, is it even possible to apply now or does it have to be included with the sponsorship app? We figured we`d probably just not bother to apply now if its only a matter of a few weeks from AIP to DM, but interesting reading that mellisaj got the OWP before they had heard about AIP.

It could also be the time it takes to let the other departments know about the approvals or OWP or AIP. Within a few weeks is normal, if a few months then I would be concerned.

Just called CIC..... finally after all this time I actually spoke to a live person. She was very, very, polite and helpful. I asked her questions regarding my application process and what happens after AIP. She went on telling me that they are currently doing my background check for any criminal records and so forth. I asked when she thinks that I will hear back from CIC and she told me by summer this year .

Why so long? Did anyone had to wait this long after receiving AIP?

Question: My sponsor/spouse was employed at the time of me applying for PR, but now she's unemployed and searching for new work. We have enough savings to support ourselves, but I was wondering if CIC verifies employment info that was originally sent and if it will raise a red flag or delay my application if they find that my sponsor is no longer employed.

I think CoPR applies for both Inland and Outland applications. But first you will need to submit your PPR request so they can send you the CoPR.

Yes patience is everything...I applied for GCMS notes on December and got them few weeks ago. They are doing my BGC with no starting reviewing my eligibility yet and no medical request. Last month I talked with IRCC and they said patience and sometimes medical can be requested at the very end of the process. ..So I am just waiting..

I don't think you will never get a PPR on the Spousal Sponsorship in-land Application, our interview is scheduled to the next 21th and we have already received the COPR with instructions of what to do next. During the phone interview we must sign the COPR and email it back to the CIC office.

What's your timeline? Can't help if you don't provide any dates. Can't tell much just by the app status...

Summer could mean by June, you applied April last year? Some people are landing in around 14 months recently, the 12 months only a guide. Also people say the call centre can be wrong with info so dont take them too literally, it seems a good sign that your app is progressing now. There is also the thing that I read here that out of status applicants usually take a bit longer as they face extra scrutiny, especially if out of status for a long time. Which makes me think we should apply for the OWP for my wife if we will have a longer wait between AIP and landing.

Thank you for the info. I read too that call centers don't always give you accurate information. However, I don't know why I feel inclined to believe the woman. I saw that HInland has the say timeline (a few days shy) as mine and he's already scheduled for a Landing Interview on March 21. Maybe this because of the out of status part on my application, but I was really hoping to hear back from them within a month .

Anyways I would advice to apply for a work permit for your wife. This is a long process and you never know how long her application will take as every application is individual. She has nothing to lose by applying. Atleast if she gets it she can start working and get her life started.

We have similar timelime.. but I received a letter requesting my Criminal Record based on fingerprints on March 01 and My CIC changed to 'We need additional documents to continue processing your application.'
