The main purpose of Canadian citizenship is just to move to US?

Even worse! Neither of these two were born in Canada. They came as immigrants and left to make their careers in the US, bastards! I can't even imagine how much strain it puts on the taxes screech339 has paid over the years...
Just as a side note : should we consider Elon Musk as an immigrant ? He was born to a canadian mother. and while probably not a canuck by birth, he got his citizenship through his mother when he was around 18 and came here as a canadian citizen.

OK, you are right. But it doesn't change the spirit of the example when we get back to the moral high ground to look at it: he has Canadian passport and enjoyed lowered university tuition from Queen's University among other benefits as a citizen while he was here, then moved to the US ...

So long as they won't take advantage of the social system back in Canada, I'm fine with it. They are not Canadian of Convenience if they don't plan on coming back to Canada in times of trouble or medical care. They have made enough money on their own that they don't need to come back to Canada.

Canadian of Convenience will use Canada as a doormat / backup plan for any personal decisions that didn't go their way, including using Canada as a stepping stone (use citizenship for purpose of getting jobs outside Canada, their native citizen wouldn't get). In other words, will use Canada medical system when they can't afford medical cost outside Canada or want Canada to bail them out in times of trouble.

And you just happen to be a prophet that knows those people that you are enjoying judging and labeling as “Canadian of convenience “ , will come back to take advantage of the system? You do know it hasn’t happened yet right? Those people you are pointing your finger to, they are still waiting to get citizenship and haven’t even left the country yet , but somehow you already know and are getting angry at them? You must be living a sci-fi life....

Yeah, just like "birth tourism" in Canada hasn't happened yet either.

How's that the same thing and how is that relevant to this? why don't you also add terrorism, racism, hate crime, sexual misconduct, and gun control to your examples just to be more pointless?

It's relevant in that liberals thought they both don't exist because the Conservatives brought it up as an issue.

Geez!

Such a double standards!

What point did @screech339 didnt get “he attained canadian citizenship and attended Queens University and paid the canadian rate” didn’t you get taking advantage of the system?

I guess since he have stature you don’t wanna step on his good name.

But it’s always different to those poor saps like me and the rest of us immies here.

Plus, those lebanese airlift happened several years ago. So why the vendetta on such an occurrence years before you became an immigrant and citizen?

Your tax dollars never funded those planes that chartered their flights.

Can’t we all just get along?

Terrorists and victims holding side by side as to what our PM are shoving down our throats with his foreign policy of appeasement.

Now I see what you are talking about ... OK, let me clarify it for you: we are NOT discussing whether it exists or not, nobody on this forum is denying the existence - the discussion is about whether people who move to other places after citizenship need to give a damn about you giving them a pass or not.

It wasn't meant as an argument anyway! I agree with you.
Anyone who genuinely becomes canadian, be it from birth or at age 78, is free to benefit from all the mobility rights the charter guarantees, regarless of what CPC voters may think. End of story.

Exactly... unfortunately some people suffer from serious inferiority complex and just want to hold on to the slave mentality, no free healthcare can cure that...

In other words, will use Canada medical system when they can't afford medical cost outside Canada or want Canada to bail them out in times of trouble.
And let's add to that:
there are people who couldn't afford higher education, so they joined the army, mostly for some non-combat roles for a few years, get subsidized tuition for their degree, and leave the army for other careers, what do we call them? army of convenience?
there are also tons of actors who wait tables for living before they could get a break and establish their acting career: waitress of convenience?
Those high school students work at McDonalds for money and experience to put on resume to be used future job - how dare they take McDonalds and use it as a stepping stone?

And how does "using Canada as a stepping stone to get jobs" apply to "In other words"" use Canada medical system when they can't afford medical cost outside Canada" ? What kind of ' in other words' connects these completely unrelated items together? You must be glad they don't test logic in the citizenship exam...

@itsmyid

Apparently the questions on form cit0002 does. It’s tricky. LOL!

Even the anglophones have a hard time answering it because it confuses their reading comprehension and complex understanding.

Just a little comment:
Canada is not the only country that does not automatically recognize your professional credentials.
For example a foreign doctor is not automatically recognized in Germany.
https://www.anerkennung-in-deutschland.de/html/en/doctor_of_medicine.php
A psychotherapist from the UK cannot automatically work in Austria (both EU)
In fact There is no automatic EU-wide recognition of academic diplomas. You may therefore need to go through a national procedure to get your academic degree or diploma recognised in another EU country, if you seek admission to a further course of study there. If you already know that you will eventually want to pursue further studies in a different country, check before you start whether your diploma will be recognised there.
https://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/education/university/recognition/index_en.htm
The US evaluates foreign credentials
https://www.state.gov/m/dghr/flo/219100.htm

In fact, I always had the impression that it was rather easier for me to find a job in Canada than in all the other countries I lived in and certainly it was much more complicated for me to work in the US in the 1980s than anywhere else.
