You are correct. We got married in canada while he is here on a visitor visa. We are coming up on our one year anniversary - our baby was born 12 days ago. They dont need to get married there to leave. Getting the visitor visa is a hit or miss. His mom is here visiting right now - she was approved in 24 hours. You just gotta have strong proof that he will return and the reason for his visit needs to convince the officer. Just to "visit a girlfriend he met a couple months ago" more than likely wont be approved. Review the visitor visa section of this forum too and you can get helpful information there as well as join the group on facebook dominican spouses. Tons of answers there!!!Yes that is a good idea. Ive been reading that getting a visitor visa from the DR is very difficult. If i understand correctly you got married in canada while he was visiting? I didnt think that was even possible. I assumed dominicans needed to get married in their country in order for them to leave.
