So 3/5 comming to force, new forms and calculator will be available on Oct 11.

Now my question: can I sign the application on Oct 11 or must I wait until Oct 12?

Just my opinion. If the forms are already available on oct 11 then I would sign them oct 11. But it s not a big deal waiting for a day or two!?

Instruction's guide states that you must become eligible to apply one day before you sign the application.

Will we become eligible to apply on Oct 11 (comming into force day), therefore allowed to sign on Oct 12?

When around 200.000+ potential applicants become eligible to apply on a single day - huge.

We speculate how IRCC processes the applicatons, but first come, first serve is the most likely answer.

So yes, one day when the flood gates open means a lot.

Good point, The guide currently states:

"Note: You must be eligible to apply for Canadian citizenship the day before you sign the application form."

So that means you cannot sign and send your application on October 11th. Do it on October 12th.

Secondly, do check the instruction guide again on October 11 just to be sure if anything has changed with respect to above.

I am pretty sure so many people will not care (or don't know about it) about the one day difference and will send their applications on Oct 11th. Do you guys think we should wait till Oct 12th? as @sistemc mentioned, one day makes a huge difference. Please tell me what you guys think :)

It would suck to get our application returned due to some silly technicality like this. At the same time, it would suck to miss out on day 1 in case there is a flood of applications. Not sure what to do.

Can try calling the IRCC call center, but that usually leads to unreliable and inconsistent information.

You can sign it on Oct 11

The sentence says "You must be eligible to apply for Canadian citizenship the day before you sign the application form."
To be eligible to become a Canadian citizen, you must meet all conditions, including:
That means on Oct 10 you have to meet the above requirements and of course you have to meet 1095 days in past 5 years on Oct10.
and Oct 11 new rules will be kicked in.

Eligibility the day before means on October 10 you have been physically present 3/5 years. So signing the application on the 11th should be okay if he fulfills the new presence rule.

@Nader. what you are saying is that it has nothing to do with the dates? So would it be okay if I sign my application on October 10th and send it so it'd be there on Oct 11th?

The new application forms will be available on October 11, so you cannot sign on Oct 10 because you will be signing the old forms with 4/6 presence requirement.

Usually they upload the applications few days before the deadlines. If they upload them early and don't mentioned anything about signature date, then we have the option I guess

No point in arguing it.. the point is what difference a day or two late in applying will make?

Lets estimate that currently CIC receives and processes 120,000 application per year, that is 10,000 each month. With new rules let say the infux increases to 15,000 each month. The processing time currently are 12 month average, by that ratio I think they will increase to 16 months by end of 2017.

Can anyone come up with a reasonable estimate (guestimate) based on actual numbers?
