Waiting time for Pakistanis after receiving ITA

Greetings!

Can anybody guide me how long does it take to receive the approval after the ITA and submission of documents online.

I got my ITA in Oct'2016 and submitted profile in January 2017. As they say they take about 4-6 months after that on average. However, my profile is still on BG checks and shows that its in progress after 7-8 months. Does it take more than usual for Pakistanis or is it taking longer for everyone?

I just wanted to ask people who may have experienced or experiencing it at the moment.

Please advice everyone.

I applied through express entry. The bacground status shows, "We are processing your background check. If we need more information we will send you a message".

They say it takes 4-6 months but due to recent increase in the applicants and stringent checks, the timeline is usually 8-12 months.
I read some folks have been waiting for over a year and the application is in progress status.

Thank you very much for your reply. Appreciate it. Do you have any idea how can we possibly contact CIC via phone to get the exact status of what's goin on or we will only have to rely over the table displayed against our profiles for 12 months?
