The passport submission at VFS was very straight forward. I went in, submitted my passports and came out in 15 minutes. But then again I was lucky and there were only 3 other people at the time i went. In case you are not able to go to submit the passport, somebody else can go on your behalf and submit it. I opted for the passport to be delivered to my house. Since i will mostly be at work when the passport will probably arrive, I was told i have to write an authorization letter stating that "this person will be collecting the passport on my behalf". Along with the authorization letter, the acknowledgement receipt which you would have received at VFS during submission is also mandatory in order to receive the passport. So in case you are not able to collect the passport yourself, make sure to give both these documents to the person who will be collecting it on your behalf. Without these, the courier person will not handover the passport back to you (this is what i was told).
I got my photos taken at VFS and i am a bit concerned. The sample photos you see online and the one they took at VFS was a bit different, with respect to dimension. And the person who took my passport, wrote "VFS photo booth, 14-08-2017, My name and DOB at the back of the photo". there was no seal/stamp whatsoever.
And another thing: i submitted all my 4 passports !
