I had a talk with my friend who is an almost an immigration consultant. She said that sending the email to the VO is the best way to go and she said that maybe it is the RCMP report that is holding up the application as it says in the notes on multiple pages that RCMP fingerprints were requested but of course there was nothing in the GCKey account asking for it nor any emails for a request letter that we could find. She thinks it might be human error and because they don't check to see if the request was sent and only they see that document was not in the file, they might have put our app at the "bottom" of the pile and not look at it again until a certain due date.

I will see if they make the request or respond to my email in 7 - 10 days which is usually how long they take to get back to you.

About the medical exam, my partner's results expire on July 30, 2017 however in the notes it looks like they have extended the expiry date to May of 2018. If we did not see that in the notes, I'm sure they would not have sent us any emails about that and that would be another thing that we would have been waiting for, that would never show up. When you get your notes, look to see if they have given you an extension. My partner has no health issues, maybe that has something to do with it.

I also asked her about when it's appropriate to contact your MP. She told me that if I contacted my MP as nothing was happening with my app for this long and having background check in progress for 5 months, that would totally be appropriate. As to whether he would do anything about it at this point, I don't know. I will see what the VO's response to my email is first.

I hope your notes will give you some answers. It is the only thing we have to get some answers about what stage they are at in processing. It's just frustrating it takes so long to receive. But as you said, you have to stay positive and patient too!
Thanks majesty for your feedback, I will take a look at it once I've received my notes...About your friend who is almost a representative at least she is giving you a clue of what might be happening with our files... I have a representative and every time I ask him for information about my application he just replies saying I have to check on the online service which is useless o_O I also told him to link the application file on the GCkey and he just told me that the same information I see on the online tool is going to be the same as the GCkey account. I am very angry at him because in 9 months he has not doing his job and without him I am not able to make any request.... After I get my notes I will release him from been my representative. I've found more information about my own app on this forum. I event want to sue him... anyway my impatience right now is on hold lol;) I am traveling to Canada for the first time next month just as a tourist, at least I will be able to see the place where I am going to live in the near future. I can't wait.

Sorry to hear that your representative isn't of much help. I understand your frustration as you probably paid this person a lot of money and he gave you not so constructive advice. We had gone through an immigration consultant before we submitted the app and I didn't find her advice half as helpful as the advice I have gotten here through people here who have been through the process.

Congrats on being able to go to Canada. That must be exciting for you! For sure it will help to distract you from this process. Time doesn't seem to go fast enough when you are stuck in the middle of this process, especially going through this VO. Enjoy your visit!

Another update from my end. After emailing the VO on Monday about the note on RCMP fingerprints being requested on multiple pages in our GCMS notes, we got a response from the VO today. They simply sent an email making a formal request for the fingerprint based police certificate. I just scanned and emailed the report to the VO that we got back in May in anticipation of the request which we thought would come by the end of June.

The lesson learned from this was that errors can happen at any time. If we didn't order the GCMS notes, who knows how long it would have taken for them to send the request. In the notes, the entry for the request actually dated back to the beginning of March, after we got SA and had to submit Schedule A. I'm thinking that they forgot to send an email requesting the fingerprint certificate at that time. Now 4 plus months later we found out. It probably delayed our app from moving forward. However, better late than never.

I am ordering the notes again at the end of August. I don't have too much faith in whoever is handling our app and the whole process for that matter. I'm going to try and be as proactive as I can because I am a little paranoid now that they might miss something again.

There were no initials at the bottom of the email for the request for the RCMP certificate. (Is that what you are talking about?) It looks like a generic request.

I kind of thought they had forgotten to send the request as the background check has been in progress for over 4 months and were waiting for the email but it never came. In our case, besides finding out where they are at with the processing, I wanted to prompt them to send the request.

Because they are generally slow at doing things at this VO, I think it's a good idea that you order the notes from time to time, especially if you can't link your account. (I think a lot of people tend to order the notes 3-4 months after they get their "We started processing your application" message in eCAS). That would drive me even more insane if I couldn't even see what they have on myCIC!

No one signed this email. At the end it says "Regards" and then there is just the address of the embassy. That's why I said I think it's generic. Kind of disappointing that the request was so impersonal.

Usually when I send them something, an email is sent saying they received my message. But I am not sure they will reply this time as I am not asking them anything, only sending them a document they requested.

I don't think they will be requesting anything else?! Maybe the next time we'll hear from them is to tell us if we need an interview.

Who knows with them!!!! I asked for confirmation. I always get the auto reply but ask for confirmation always. Theyre usually pretty good. Within 24-48 hours
