Really? Maybe it's just their technique to make more money. I was so happy to hear that it doesn't take so long, Because we have AIP and it works same as applying for post graduation work permit which also takes about 1-2 months approximately, but in that work permit you have to have a ECS or ESC something like that (I am not sure what's it called) from your institution that you have graduated. But I guess I was wrong.
I am not saying that it's wrong or not. I've never heard of that. I would think they would have noted that somewhere. Also, I would expect the same for extending a present OWP, which I have also heard is still 4 mos wait..

By all means, keep us updated!

Hi Pedropil,
I can tell you my case. Weirdly, I already have my landing interview scheduled on 13th. In Ecas, I have DM for applicant side, Sponsor side still processing, another piece of interesting info. Mycic, everything is processing, eligibility under review and nothing else needed. Funny enough no SA or AIP at all LOL

You received AIP May 4th, right? Did Salma's office call you yet? It's odd that they waited this long to approve the file...

In our case, they did have about a month between AIP and landing (well, a month and a couple days), but this was (or so we thought) due to the medical exam we had to wait for.

After AIP, they are combining all the case details together (Security and Criminality checks, and Medical). UNLESS you are the lucky winner of a QA interview... At this point, I think either case could be true...

EDIT: Have they told you or not if your husband passed his Security check yet? Maybe call and ask? That's the only other thing I can think of that could hold a case up at this stage...

Edited: Received AIP on 4 May 2017 and received SA on 11 May 2017.

Nothing from Salma's office yet.

Thanks Profiler. I will call and ask about the Security check.

Edited: Just called and was unable to get a live agent. After entering all relevant application information the IRCC automated message is still saying they need additional documents.

The automated message also said IRCC is reviewing eligibility and background check.

I think we are seeing now what John McCallum was struggling with. "Turning a big ship like this around isn't easy," he said in one of this press briefings.

It's frustrating, for sure. I feel for you. Remember my (daily, sometimes hourly) rants while we waited for the medical? Totally get you.

At the same time, I am a process-driven professional. I live this stuff everyday. I can see the faults they have, and even more so, that they are not releasing more up to date or accurate information about what is holding cases up. Being of the engineer persuasion also has me sensitive (well, not really) to their requirements for protecting information (like security). They cannot just release information that they may have received from an intelligence source. Granted this would be a rare case, but none the less, telling people "Hey we are just waiting for an outside partner for a security clearance," might be helpful...

On top of that, they had that big muckup yester-week that caused no end of confusion. That's an ITIL (IT Information Library; a set of IT standards) failure.

All that is to say, that's why you know for sure, I would never work at IRCC/CIC/SSC.

Fear not: The end is coming!

From your mention of ITIL failure this thing came to my mind:-apparently the massive British Airways information system failure they are reporting in media was triggered by pulling a wrong plug at the data centre. Wonder if IRCC is protected from such mishaps. Ironically all data centres should be fail proof by introducing redundancy, but who knows...!!

"Pulling the wrong plug"? Sorry, Sam. Not buying it. At. All.

The only item in a DC that I can see causing that type of "outage" would be "pulling the plug (power, network, what have you)" on a SAN/NAS/Filer. It would then take time to rescan and rebuild block indexes across the disk-span. Assuming, of course, that they totally ignored the routine "rebuilding of indexes -- or "defrag" as windows used to call it -- which is also routine practice.

The biggest problem I have with that theory is, if you are an airline, and you know that this would be a single point of failure, do you not have redundant PSU's, fed from separate UPS's on separate power feeds into the DC? If it was network-related, did they not bond NIC's on separate switch fabrics?

In my previous lives (well, earlier in my career) I architect'ed and deployed such in far-less mission-critical infrastructure. The driver in those cases were typically Engineering "departments" at software dev houses cost tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars per hour of lost work-time. Not even personal safety...

I want you to know, I "wasted" my 6,000th post, to remind you that, it's a hard wait, when you know the end is right there. And that you are ready to just move on with your life. I know all too well. But whatever they might have in store for you, it's only for a short time. You then have the rest of your lives to live. So, chin up. Try to focus on something else. The old adage is: a watched pot never boils.

Thanks for the update.

I have made 5 calls to CIC today, but was unable to reach an agent. The auromated systems says, the eligibility review has not started yet, medicals are being reviewed (despite them sending me a request for medicals on 30 May 17...I had already done upfront medicals last year).

They are processing aplliapplications received before 21 April 16. Let's see...will wait for their email.
