Salam everyone,

You guys have been of great help. My wife who is going to make SMART CNIC in Pakistan just mentioned that I have to make a new NICOP too here in Canada, even though it does not say about status on the card but internally they have to update it. I asked a friend and he said HE NEVER UPDATED HIS NICOP to married, only changes were done by his wife in PAKISTAN.

If that's the case then I better do it on this weekend, just want some expert opinions who went through it.

So I had to get a NICOP card for my daughter but they wouldn't make it since both my husband and I were still single in their system. So my husband had to get his CNIC card renewed and had to update his marital status to married. I was asked to do the same. But since I got no time to stand in lines and deal with NICOP agents here, I haven't done it. My child's NICOP was created based on her father's card. So, yes, your wife only needs to update it in Pakistan. Yours should be fine.

Essentially, CNIC wants to link to our NICOPs to close off the loop. It makes sense theoretically.

No. Our lawyer told us to wait for them to ask. Cause if did now, for sure it would have been expired. And said no point in doin now.

No., medicals are valid for 12 months, you could have done your medical in Aug before applying and it would have been valid now.

My husband also made a new nicop to update his status as married in the NADRA database.

Like a said, the delay won't be more than 2 3 weeks. when they complete reviewing your file, they will send Medical instructions to your lawyers address. do ask your lawyer if he has received any email.
