True, they told me to just wait. However, they also told me that the processing times do not apply for those who completed P1 and P2
Which is technically correct. Once you receive your eCOPR as an inland applicant you're considered landed and have access to all services. The ability to re-enter the country in a hurry isn't really their problem since you're an inland applicant. Having said this - the delays on this process are total b*llsh*t so I'm sympathetic. With the amount of money these overpaid bureaucrats have wasted they could have had a much better process. Not to mention that they raise the applicant fees every year so... Where exactly is that money going if the process gets MORE painful.

What do they mean by the processing time no longer applies after P1 and P2?

Yeah, I don't understand why we still need to wait after the process is technically done. Having a number for the document with obtaining the document itself is also interesting. It looks like it has something to do with meeting some quotas, but different visa offices issue and process things at different times as well.

meaning there is no fixed timeline for that, they can take whatever time they need to

Hi All,

I am a Canadian citizen. Me and my partner want to get married here in Canada and apply for Spousal Sponsorship in land.
I know that we can apply for Open Work Permit after receiving AOR.

Based on the current immigration timeline, how long do you think it will take to get a work permit?

Thanks in advance.

IRCC timelines can be found at this link: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/check-processing-times.html
based on that right now and how it seems recent applications have been going, you might be able to expect:
- AOR around ~1 month after applying for spousal sponsorship (but can be longer) and then add approximately 120 days (so around 4 months) based on current estimates for the work permit itself.
however things and timelines are changing all the time and every situation is different.
my partner (who is already here on an IEC open work permit when we applied) JUST applied for the spousal open work permit 30 days ago since his IEC work permit is expiring this summer and it just got approved. so faster than we expected. sifting through the various inland forums will help you get a sense of what to expect.

What I have observed is still speculation on my end. I found that every month since January 2025, they have only completed the evaluation of 20 days from May 2024. I think they are targeting to complete the review of only 10 days per Month in which files were submitted. So, I feel this month will be for files submitted between 21st May and 31st May 2024.
