Hey guys - just got the AOR recently and I was planning to apply for an Open Work permit for my spouse. However, she is on a study permit and currently studying in Canada. I am on PR though and tried to apply through her IRCC account but it doesn't let me apply an open work permit for a study permit holder and only lets me apply if the person is on a visitor visa or work permit. Is there anyone who can help in the process if you were in a similar situation and applied for a work permit for your spouse when they were on a study permit? Thanks in advance.

Hi All, can someone please clarify on the below 2 questions:

a) If I have a Valid visit visa stamping and got a open work permit thorugh Spousal sponsorship as PR in-land applicant, do I need to still apply for a Visa stamping again? Or can use the existing visitor visa stamping along with the open work permit to travel out of the country?

b) Can I travel out of the country when my PR in-land spousal sponsorship aplication eligibility is completed and Background check is in progress. If yes, how long I can travel out of Canada?

If you have a valid multi-entry TRV or eTA, you can re-enter Canada. The work permit is not an entry document, but you do have to keep it with you to present to the officer, and it probably decreases your chance of getting denied entry.

You can travel but it is not recommended for inland applicants. There is no guarantee they will let you back into Canada—it's unlikely you'd be denied, but it's a real possibility. If you must travel, it is recommended to keep time outside of Canada short.

I have same concern too. But I'm travelling with my spouse common law partner and in the process of PR. He and I go to see my family and travel for about 2 months. I'm so nervous that It will affect my application and I can't enter Canada even though I just extended my TRV and my work permit is still valid.
Thank you so much

2 months is a very long time.
If you extended your "visitor status", the extension only applies inside Canada.

Do you have a valid TRV to return?
