Hello,

I am currently residing in India, and my partner is living and working in Quebec. She obtained her PR through Express Entry and initially lived in Ontario for six months, where she acquired an Ontario driver’s license and health card. However, she later moved to Quebec for a job opportunity in her field.

Given that the spousal sponsorship processing time for Quebec is currently around 36 months, we are exploring options to avoid this lengthy timeline. She is currently alone in Quebec, and we are considering relocating to another province. However, her job contract extends until August.

We are seeking advice on the best course of action:

  1. Should we apply for spousal sponsorship now and indicate that we will be moving from Quebec in July once her contract ends?
  2. Would securing a lease agreement in Ontario and showing that she resides there but works in Quebec be a viable option?
Any guidance or insights on how to proceed in this situation would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Until she leaves Quebec she will be processed as a Quebec applicant. Misrepresenting where you live is an awful idea and will be pretty easy to disprove. Her OHIP card and drivers license are no longer valid. If you try to use them in her application that is immigration fraud. If she is sure she can move and find employment outside Quebec I would probably wait until she moves to apply for sponsorship.
