My partner and I will be applying for a common-law sponsorship (inland) in May. My partner has been financially supporting me throughout my stay in Canada, covering expenses such as housing, food, and internet. He obtained an Affidavit of Support Guarantee from the Philippine Consulate in Toronto stating that he will support me during my stay in Canada. Is this a good evidence of Financial Support?

Since we both have jobs, he rarely sends money directly (I have receipts for the occasional money transfers). Instead, I contribute to household expenses, primarily through groceries and meals, which I purchase using my personal credit and debit cards from my home country. Can I provide snippets of bank transactions from my bank statement as proof of my contribution to household expenses? I can also include a letter explaining this.

To further demonstrate my financial involvement, would grocery transactions from my TD bank account (opened in September 2024 with our shared address) help substantiate this? He just added me as an authorise card holder in his credit card in December. We already have statements with my name on it.

Additionally, we have traveled extensively together and have receipts, vouchers, plane, and train tickets with both of our names. Could these serve as evidence of shared expenses?

Thank you for your guidance!

-I don't think the affidavit is useful.
-Yes, just provide some evidence of your household expenditure contributions, with short note. You shouldn't need a lot here.
-Sure, some travel expenses won't hurt.

As with other things in showing relationship - you have to use your judgment as to what is sufficient. For common law, critical to show residing together for > 12 months. Things like rental agreements or whatever else that show you've been living together for that full period is the most important.

My point is look at it overall - if the rest of the information is strong, you may not need much on this particular line item. Don't overwhelm them with 300 pages of receipts: pick the best and perhaps a short letter if you htink more explanation needed.

Perfect! Thank you for your insight. We have other stuff we have our ID's showing same address, individual phone plans, and parcels and mails being sent address to our names with same address since I moved in. The house is under his mom's so we don't actually pay for the rent, can a letter from his mom would be ok for this?

It would not hurt but you should have other evidence that supports the starting date of cohabitation.
