For gcms notes , search in google atip notes and apply it online it will take almost a month receive them

processing time is just a indicative time however depends on file and IRCC officer , processing may less or more than 21 months too
Thank you for your answer.
I understand the processing time can be less or more but I am just confused on how it starts like from AOR or the day we apply?
Thank you

The processing time starts the day ircc receive the complete application and ends when they make a decision.
It may vary depending on how many applications they get or if the application is complex

It means that if they get more applications processing time will increase but if they get less applications the procesaing time will decrease.

Complex or non-routine applications
that require extra documents may take longer to process.

Would not focus too much on the 21 months. This just gives you an approximate idea and processing times are likely going to get longer for many and perhaps much shorter if there is an attempts to identify those without grounds faster.

My mother is 78 years old, so she is not in a position to cook or do her groceries or any outside work on her own. And she does not have anyone in our native country who can do these things for her. We dont meet LICO but we have brought our savings here which is 500K+, so money won't be a problem to take care of her. I actually chose Canada because I hoped that I can keep her with me as some of my friends could take their parents there. But I understand, the situation is changed now. Feeling hopeless, as I dont want anything from the Govt (we are getting only the child benefit), just want to keep my aged mother with me. Even if I get a good job now and I apply for her super visa, she would have to leave Canada as for super visa, the applicant has to remain out of Canada. It is too hard for her to have this long journey now...

If you can prove that she fears for her life and will be persecuted an asylum claim is an option but a risky option unless she has concrete proof of fear of persecution. How old is your mother? Is she able to care for herself (basic cooking, hygiene , dressing herself, etc.)? Having your mother move with you to Canada was not a great idea because it shows that you always intended for her to move with you which was not part of the PR approval and this was not a change in circumstance. The fact that you don’t even meet LICO (which is already low given cost of living) may be problematic for an H&C case since the ability to financially support yourself without government support is often a factor in most H&C applications. Good chance she will likely fall out of status during a Quebec H&C application which is also problematic. There are no clear solutions that don’t have significant downside risk. Would gather all the evidence you have and consult an immigration lawyer who can evaluate your case and go through all the potential options and risks.

I would expect for IRCC to become very tough when it comes to parents applying for H&C. There is already 50k applications in the H&C system and after closing PGP for at least 2025 I expect even more parents will attempt to apply. Quota for all forms of H&C applications next year is I believe 10k. The numbers just don’t work.

If you are newcomers you would have known that parent sponsorship was not guaranteed and would have had to make a plan. 500k will essentially support your own living costs for a while and support your own life in Canada but will not allow you to cover the costs of a senior and your own family starting from scratch in Canada. You can certainly try to apply for H&C for your mother but you need to plan b. Have a plan if visitor record is not approved. You also must realize the risk of filing an H&C if denied.

¡Exactamente!

Sadly many are using H&C as a replacement for PGP which has never been its intent. IRCC had been very generous with issuing H&C to some parents in the past but given the volume of applications and the quotas that is likely to change. We are unable to care for seniors who have lived and worked in Canada a large portion of their lives so we can’t actually absorb any extra seniors so the PGP quota is already generous.

Hello All,

I have applied H&C for my father who has been on Visitor Status since 2020 COVID-19. I have renewed his visitor status and have been approved to extend his stay. My mom has since been living by herself back home and visits us every year while I had a baby and my other sisters who also live in Canada and USA got married and had a baby, basically, all my father's children are married and settled here, also his grandchildren, hence I applied H&C since sponsorship wasn't an option, due to income proof as i was on long maternity leave and also needed support from both my parents to raise my baby, as my recovery took a toll on my health, etc.

Fast forward to now, waiting to find out the status of the application and how to connect it to my father's GC key account, i just created it, i have applied H&C through my PR Portal as i am his representative, and my husband & I will be supporting my father and his expenses of living in Canada.

I applied on November 2023 and received AOR Dec 21, 2023

He also received a Biometrics request the same day following the AOR even though his previous biometrics were still valid, from the Vancouver office, biometrics were done and the receipt was emailed as requested by the officer.

We haven't heard since Dec 2023 from anyone and I am unable to track this application status through any of the countless portals out there. The category in GC key to link application does not show any refugee application, as H&C falls under that.

If anyone has any information that can help me figure out, please share your thoughts. My father now wants to go back home to meet his oldest sibling (sister) who is 92 years old, bedridden. He is tired of waiting and wants the flexibility of enjoying time with his grandkids, be able to travel back and forth as he pleases, and spending time with my mom.

We feel this is going to be a long long journey, and if he leaves he might not even get approved for a Visitor visa let alone H&C

Hi, we have people waiting in this forum since early 2023 :( and still no response. Your can apply for ATIP request to see where the application is at... or call IRCC but there is nothing you can do to expedite the processing (( Unfortunately, my parents' HC was refused in less than a year and so was reconsideration even though I had a very strong case... it's very difficult to win parents' HC until it reaches Federal Court.

So which people have seen progress and approval of their parents or family H&C ?? I am going through the forum i havent seen one application approval or anything so far :( i rather let my father go and return but h wont have any visa stamped in his passport nad he might not even get approved, i dont know what are hard & fast rules of IRCC to be refusing Visit Visas or any other like Supervisa

Trust me we are all in the same boat... Super Visas are the option but once it expires after 10 years, new Super Visas are difficult to get as parents have no ties back home if they lived here for 7 years + even initial Super Visas are difficult to get these days... if you see other threads, you'll see people get refusals on Super Visas for stupid reasons that dont make any sense and goes against the Super Visa requirements.... unfortunately, these days Canadians have to fight for their own biological parents to remain or enter Canada... Ive been trying to sponsor my parents 10+ years and no luck...I hope your dad will get approval

Hard and fast rule #1: you go home after your initial visit. Applying for H&C pretty much indicates you don't plan/or are at high risk of violating your visa conditions (the one about going home), hence the refusals.
