Hello, I received this email today. Do I just have to reply to the email answering the questions they ask??? What is this email about? Is this what is called P1?

Also, important question, I am applying for the PR with my wife and my 2 daughters. I received this email, with a pdf with my name in my gmail account, but.. I also received 2 other emails, in my hotmail account, one with the name of one of my daughters in the pdf, and the other email with the name of my other daughter in the pdf. For my wife, I have not received any email yet.

Does anyone know why I received 2 in my hotmail account and one in my gmail account?:? what should I do?

This is called the portal 1 email. You'll need to provide the mentioned information for all the applicants (You, your wife and 2 daughters).

For faster processing, I'd recommend replying to this email from the email addresses where you received the email. I'd also recommend to not combine information in one email, keep them separate. 1 email respond for 1 daughter and another separate email for another daughter.

Your wife should receive a separate one as well as far as I know.

Guys, my application is going to change, I think. I've been looking at it for 5 months and the last update was in May and now it says there was an update yesterday, but nothing has appeared yet. That's a good sign, I think. It looks like they're working on it now! Good luck to all.
I think it was a ghost update, I got one too!

It’s normal for PR applications to remain in the “Security Check Not Started” stage for an extended period. Here’s what it means and why it happens:

What It Means:
1. “Security Check Not Started” doesn’t necessarily mean the processing has stopped. It only indicates that the security screening process, which involves background checks, has not yet begun in the IRCC system. Other aspects of your application, like medicals, eligibility, and criminality, may already be completed.

2. Security checks involve coordination with other agencies and may take time to initiate based on:
• Volume of applications.
• Complexity of the case.
• Internal processing priorities.
3. The processing status often varies by applicant and office. If many applicants share this stage, it could indicate a backlog or specific internal protocols.

Why It Happens:
• IRCC Prioritization: IRCC may prioritize other applications based on urgency, program type, or quotas.
• Comprehensive Background Verification: Security screening is thorough and may take longer to initiate, especially for applicants flagged for additional verifications.
• External Agencies: Security checks involve agencies like CBSA, CSIS, or international bodies. Delays can occur when IRCC is waiting for responses from them.

Has IRCC Stopped Processing?
No, your application is still active. If all other stages are complete and security hasn’t started yet, IRCC will eventually initiate it as part of their workflow. It does not mean your application is on hold or abandoned.

What You Can Do:
1. Patience: Security checks can take weeks or even months to start and complete, depending on various factors.
2. Raise a Webform or Call IRCC: If you’re worried, you can send a case-specific inquiry via the IRCC Webform or call them to confirm your application’s status.
3. MP Inquiry: You may request your local Member of Parliament (MP) to inquire about your application’s status.
4. GCMS Notes: Order your Global Case Management System (GCMS) notes to get detailed information about your file, including officer comments and processing updates.
Delays at this stage are common and usually don’t indicate a problem. Security checks are critical for PR applications, and IRCC ensures they are handled meticulously.
Thanks @Miss bee! I probably need to apply BOWP
