@Miss bee everything in my pr application everything is completed and passed except
Security check has not yet started. Is it normal? And what does it mean, did they stop processing the application? I noticed lots of applicant have the same situation.

@Miss bee Hey Miss bee, I have this thing which is bugging me in head. I already have my AOR and currently background check is under process.

At the time of filling this application, there was a question asking “have you or your family member been refused admission to, or ordered to leave, Canada or any other country or territory?”

At the time of application, my family’s visitor visa was in process so I have answered “No”.
However, unfortunately, last week they got their rejection.
So do I need to inform IRCC about this? as I answered “No” in my application.
If application was denied after you applied for PR application, you don’t need to update them however if it was denied before, you have to inform them.

It’s normal for PR applications to remain in the “Security Check Not Started” stage for an extended period. Here’s what it means and why it happens:

What It Means:
1. “Security Check Not Started” doesn’t necessarily mean the processing has stopped. It only indicates that the security screening process, which involves background checks, has not yet begun in the IRCC system. Other aspects of your application, like medicals, eligibility, and criminality, may already be completed.

2. Security checks involve coordination with other agencies and may take time to initiate based on:
• Volume of applications.
• Complexity of the case.
• Internal processing priorities.
3. The processing status often varies by applicant and office. If many applicants share this stage, it could indicate a backlog or specific internal protocols.

Why It Happens:
• IRCC Prioritization: IRCC may prioritize other applications based on urgency, program type, or quotas.
• Comprehensive Background Verification: Security screening is thorough and may take longer to initiate, especially for applicants flagged for additional verifications.
• External Agencies: Security checks involve agencies like CBSA, CSIS, or international bodies. Delays can occur when IRCC is waiting for responses from them.

Has IRCC Stopped Processing?
No, your application is still active. If all other stages are complete and security hasn’t started yet, IRCC will eventually initiate it as part of their workflow. It does not mean your application is on hold or abandoned.

What You Can Do:
1. Patience: Security checks can take weeks or even months to start and complete, depending on various factors.
2. Raise a Webform or Call IRCC: If you’re worried, you can send a case-specific inquiry via the IRCC Webform or call them to confirm your application’s status.
3. MP Inquiry: You may request your local Member of Parliament (MP) to inquire about your application’s status.
4. GCMS Notes: Order your Global Case Management System (GCMS) notes to get detailed information about your file, including officer comments and processing updates.
Delays at this stage are common and usually don’t indicate a problem. Security checks are critical for PR applications, and IRCC ensures they are handled meticulously.

Hello all,

I received my MPNP nomination on October 30, 2024. In my nomination letter, it stated, "Please note this nomination is not valid for Express Entry." As a result, I applied and submitted my PR application under Non-Express Entry on November 5, 2024. Currently, the status of my PR application is "Submitted." My PGWP expires on October 22, 2025, and I am concerned that it may expire before I receive my PR approval, especially since the current processing time is 20 months. Could you please advise me on what steps I can take while waiting and what I have to do if my PGWP expires when I submit my PR application?
If your PGWP expires before your PR application is approved, here’s what you can do to maintain your legal status in Canada:

1. Apply for a Bridging Open Work Permit (BOWP):
• Eligibility:
• You must have submitted a complete PR application.
• Your PGWP must still be valid when you apply for the BOWP.
• When to Apply: You can apply as early as four months before your PGWP expires.
• Benefit: A BOWP allows you to continue working while waiting for your PR decision.

2. Consider Employer-Specific Work Permits:
• If you have an employer willing to support you, they could apply for a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) or use an employer-specific nomination (if eligible).
• With the LMIA or provincial support, you can apply for an employer-specific work permit.

3. Maintain Status as a Visitor (If Needed):
• If no work permit options are available before your PGWP expires, you can apply to change your status to a visitor.
• This will allow you to remain in Canada legally while your PR application is processed, though you won’t be able to work.

4. Track Your PR Application Progress:
• The processing time for Non-Express Entry streams is lengthy. However, you can monitor your application status through:
• GCKey Account
• PR Tracker (if applicable
• Order GCMS Notes for detailed updates
5. Plan Ahead for Processing Times:
• If your PR application remains in process as your PGWP expiry date approaches, prioritize applying for the BOWP (or other permits).

Hi @Miss bee, I hope you're doing well.

I have a question. I am the spouse of the applicant, and in the 5669 form, I listed my job from 01/2022 to 03/2022 (3 months). Since the job did not have an official offer letter, and I was paid via Interac transfer, the employer did not issue pay slips (taxed ones). Because of this, it doesn't appear on my SIN and cannot be verified with CRA.

Will this be an issue during the processing of my application? I haven't received my AOR yet.

Yes you are required to mention each and every job . You can hide it as this will be misrepresentation and can cause serious issues. If you haven’t got AOR yet , wait for AOR and then submit newly filled form again.

@Miss bee
I didn't put flagpole details in imm5562 (travel hystory ).
How can I update this document.
I didn't receive AOR yet.
Flagpole details goes under background declaration form not in travel history form . Under background declaration form there should be question about if you are denied entry to Canada or other countries? You should answer yes there and fill all information in details in box underneath that form .

Guys, my application is going to change, I think. I've been looking at it for 5 months and the last update was in May and now it says there was an update yesterday, but nothing has appeared yet. That's a good sign, I think. It looks like they're working on it now! Good luck to all.
