December 2024 - Citizenship Applications

The question on the application is "Do you currently, or have you ever held immigration or citizenship status in a country or territory other than Canada (this includes your country of birth)? " . My understanding is Immigration status = Work Visa / temporary visa / Travel Visa.

I understood immigration status to be immigrant status (e.g. permanent residence, work visa, asylum, etc)....which would exclude temporary statuses such as visitor or transit visas. But I could be wrong.
I find it difficult to believe that IRCC would want a list of all temporary visas. That seems a bit excessive.
Whereas they would want to know if you have had any ties to other countries.

AOR: I initially submitted online application on Dec 17, I received an email today says that my application is missing information. I logged in and it says I have other people's information in my supporting document - I included my property purchase agreement as part of the supporting documents. So I removed that document and resubmitted, the application date however changed to today's date. May I ask if anyone knows that will they process my resubmitted application quicker since I already submitted once, or it will be treated as a new application... thanks...

Hi Hazel, the next step is to get invited to complete the citizenship test. When that will happen is anyone's guess. Some get it before their background check is complete and others get it after the background check has completed.
After you pass the test, then the other areas (Language skills, Prohibitions and Physical presence) are worked on. Once you clear all 3 of those, the last thing left is the citizenship ceremony invitation, where you will take the oath and become a Canadian citizen.
Now some people also get sent to an interview with an citizenship officer and some people get a request for finger prints before their background check is completed.
