Hello there,

If the principal applicant in a Canadian permanent residency (PR) family sponsorship application is a refugee and does not have a valid passport from their country. What is the best course of action? Anything we should be prepared for?

For context, we are in the final stages of our family sponsorship application for my wife who is a refugee. With no valid passport and she cannot get one. Once we get the passport request letter from IRCC how should we proceed?

Any tips are appreciated.

Thank you in advance

I believe you can request a copy of your passport

Thanks for the fast reply. She was under age when she left her country so she never had a passport in the first place only a birth certificate from her country.
I don't know in that case. You might need to consult with a lawyer.
