Hi,
I have canadian citizenship ceremony scheduled for 7th January, my pr card expired on December and i applied to get a new one and they just emailed that i can collect it in person from Scarborough office due to canada post and i have till January 10th otherwise they will mail it in February. Now my question is that do i need to collect it and destroy it during the ceremony or can i use the old one and not collect the new one at all?
Thank you

Collect it and destroy it in the ceremony.

Personally I doubt it matters - probably a wee bit cleaner to pick up the new one and destroy it during the ceremony. But if you were to just go with the old one, not pick up the new one, and maybe after the fact advise you're now a citizen would be fine too.

If they should end up sending the old one by mistake by mail, you'd be best to return it.
