PR: Never received COPR

Hello, thanks in advance for anyone who can share some input on this.

I'm sponsoring (PR) my parents who are out of Canada and from a country that requires a visa to travel to Canada. Some days ago I received an e-mail from IRCC that says: "

Your application for permanent residence is now ready for finalization pending the confirmation of your permanent residence status. You’ll complete this process through the Permanent Resident Portal (PR Confirmation). Please provide the requested information within 7 calendar days to ensure there are no undue delays."

I replied to the e-mail noting the date my parents would like to land and provided the other details (eye colour... etc.) as requested. Then, IRCC replied the following:

"Thank you for informing us that you are currently outside of Canada. Upon your return to Canada on 2025/01/10, please reply to this email with the information filled in below", which is the same information that I already provided.

However, I never received a travel document, letter or COPR from IRCC noting that they can now enter in Canada for the landing. I'm confused since IRCC is asking me to reply to the same email once my parents are inside Canada, but for them to be in Canada we need a letter/document/COPR from them to fly and enter in Canada.

I'm wondering if they need to apply to a Canada visa in their country to travel to Canada so that I can then send that email once they are here and then finalize the PR process?

Obviously the IRCC thought your parents were or had been in Canada (and had just temporarily left). You'll have to contact IRCC to make this clear.

Yes, they will need to apply for immigration visa and copr thorugh a visa office. I do not know whether they would have any chance of doing so without additional correspondence from IRCC - that is, I think you'll need to do the above, AND get a passport request for them.

I think this is just easier than asking them to reprocess the application as outland (time consuming, more forms... etc.). What are your thoughts?

Updating their current address is NOT the same as reprocess the application as outland.
It's just to arrange for PPR in their VO instead of going through the virtual landing.

BTW if their visitor visa has expired, then they need to apply for new TRV. They cannot "renew" their current visa to enter.

It is not reprocessing, it's just asking them to issue passport request for abroad.

I don't think there's any such distinction as inland/outland for PGP, just the practical matter of where they happen to be for landing process.

In terms of 'work' for them I think it should be fairly quick, main issue is to get someone at IRCC to action it. Webform, call centre.

And I think TRV would take longer.

You may want to read the initial email to see if there is an option to request PPR if they are outside.
Or if it's been a while, call IRCC to get the process started.

Please what's the beat number to reach IRCC on...the current number in the website appears not to go through . It says they can't attend to any calls due to so many people on the line..

Yes I know, I called and called and called since the same thing... it becomes nerve racking when its an urgent request and you need some one to answer you urgently

Wouldn’t be considered an urgent request. Your best option may be to send a webform.

Yes thanks @canuck78, already put in webform request. Please would you or any one else know if you still have to pay for the Right of Permament Residency Fee (RPRF) for minor who are over a year old. I wasn't sure if I need to pay the RPRF for minor, i am the sponsor and my kid, a minor and also my dependent is the primary applicant. It already states On IRCC website that "You do not need to pay the RPRF of $575 for each PR applicant for dependent of Primary applicant or Sponsor. So am just abit confused if this is the case for my kid , a minor & just over a year old who is the primary applicant & dependent and I am the sponsor . Just not sure if anyone that had a Minor , had to pay for the RPRF for them, as they obviously sponsored their kid who is the primary applicant and dependent of the sponsor
