Dear friends

My parents were refused visitor visa on the following ground (GCMS notes)

Taking the applicant's purpose of visit into account, the documentation provided in support of the applicant's financial situation does not demonstrate that the applicant is sufficiently established that the proposed visit would be a reasonable expense.
The purpose of visit does not appear reasonable given the applicant's socio-economic situation and therefore I am not satisfied that the applicant would leave Canada at the end of the period of authorized stay.
Weighing the factors in this application. I am not satisfied that the applicant will depart Canada at the end of the period authorized for their stay.
For the reasons above, I have refused this application.

My father is employed and had provided letter from employer, they are financially stable , showed proof of funds( an excellent amount) , asset certificate, land and property docs and previous travel history to other countries visited. My mother is financially dependant on him. The purpose of visit was to visit daughter for house warming function.

Kindly advise how to justify these reasons in the next application.

Thankyou

So all they were coming for was a house warming? How long was the visit? What is your mother’s ties to home country, if any?

We mentioned stay for 2 months. The purpose of visit stated was to visit as daughter is getting a new home. My mothers siblings are all in India other than that nothing else.

A 2 month visit is a long time for a house warming and then doesn’t show any ties to country. Few people get a two month vacation. The visit should be 2-3 weeks.

How much savings did your parents show approximately? It is their savings that is important not yours and especially liquid savings not fixed deposit. Are all these savings from his own employment or do you help support your parents? An approved leave letter from your father’s employer is something you should include if you reapply. What other ties have they shown? Do they have other children living in India? As previously noted a house warming is not considered a good reason to spend thousands of dollars to travel to Canada.

Bank balance was 3 laks INR. But I believe FDs are also considered as liquid funds. All their savings are invested as FDs and we have all that included in asset management certificate. We did provide leave letter in the previous application. They have one more daughter living in another country.

That’s around 5k right? FD are not considered the same as liquid assets because you don’t have easy access to funds like you would with liquid assets. 5k isn’t considered a lot of funds and that’s one of the reasons they were denied. That may not cover the cost of their whole visit if they had to pay for their own travel costs and having their savings in FDs is the other issue. You may plan on paying for their travel costs but families have fought before and then refused to cover the travel costs of family or friends so IRCC wants to see that they could cover their expenses if necessary because some people ended up in Canada unable to pay for a hotel a flight home. Do you meet LICO for your family size? I would suggest applying for a supervisa because that would make your finances the primary focus not their finances.

Thankyou. Well in the next application we shall make sure to show more funds in savings account.

What is your citizenship? Why do you want to visit Canada and for how long?
I am Ghanaian citizen by birth . My grandpa is dual citizenship Ghana/ canada , two of my aunty are Canadian citizens ( cousins too ) . It was a visit to my aunty for a month during my winter holiday in January 2025 . My mom is deceased so my aunty inviting me is my maternal mom since she is the only sister of my mother left . ( the other one passed in June 2024 in Canada )
