Hi everyone,
I filed for my spousal PR on May 2023 and I got my AOR on August 2023 and by August 2023 my medical and biometrics were completed, but on oct 2023 I got an ADR and since then my file is stuck, I contacted MP and came to know that because of ADR my file is considered as non routine. I have requested Gcms notes as well!! Can anyone please let me know the timeframe required to get the Gcms notes and what can I do further at this point of time and does anyone know the time frame of non routine spousal PR .

Thanks in Advance!!
Went through the same thing, but I'm an august 2023 applicant. Biometric and medical already completed since January 2024.
I received an ADR in may and we contacted the MP who let us know it considered no routine but in October 2024 we saw our background check turned from not applicable to we are processing on gckey.
I received my gcms not and saw everything is passed except from the security check not started.

I’m currently preparing documents to submit for sponsoring my husband. What’s the best way to prepare the proof of communication documents? & under what category from the drop list should I upload them?

Thanks in advance for your feedback

you should upload it under the same section in the checklist, in this case I believe it should be under proof of relationship

I have background check completed but eligibility not started as per both pr tracker and gcms notes. Is this normal? Why eligibility starting at the end ? I have seen normal trend as background getting completed at the last stage. Kindly assist with your experience. Thanks !

Hi there! I am reaching out due to sponsor eligibility refusal and writing to seek your guidance regarding the issue.

My sponsorship eligibility was recently refused by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) due to being in default of a previous sponsorship from 2017. Despite this, I chose to continue with the application, and the IRCC has sent the file to the visa office. As part of the process, my spouse’s fingerprints have been requested.

I have reached out to social assistance to inquire about any outstanding debt and the procedure for repayment. Unfortunately, I have been informed that clearing this debt and having social assistance confirm repayment to IRCC could take up to 4 months, or even longer. According to the refusal letter, IRCC will amend my immigration file once they receive confirmation from the provincial government that the debt has been fully repaid.

At this point, I am uncertain about the best course of action. Should I withdraw the current application and reapply once my debt is paid off, or is it possible to expect that IRCC will hold off on a final decision and restore my eligibility once they receive confirmation from social assistance? Is there any chance that my application can continue and eventually receive approval?

I appreciate your guidance if anyone has any information about a similar case and letting me know.

I would create a new thread for this so that you can receive more advise from others.

Personally I don't think so, although it may translate into somewhat slower processing for spousal (possibly not though, since they may have more staff available).

IRCC basically doesn't limit spousal and dependent child applications. The figures they publish are estimates of how many apps they will get and process.

BUT: I don't expect they'll renew or announce anything new for parents and grandparents, and they may limit or pause / slow-walk 'lonely Canadian' apps.

I think it's also possible they'd reduce/limit some of the 'family reunification' temporary resident measures. But only speculation.

Hey guys, how do I apply for my wife Open Work Permit? She's currently on PGWP, and it's expiring soon. We've submitted the sponsorship application and received the AOR two days ago. We opened a new OPW application on a the MyIRCC portal, but the application seems awfully short. It only requires us to submit an IMM5710 form along with my wife passport. There's no field to ask for any additional support documents. Is this the correct step for OPW?
