so i am screwed? do you know how much time can i buy by applying for pgwp extension? someone told me they applied for pgwp extension on paper and keep working is that true? if i get 7 months i can get my score for pr. thx
Applying for an extension without qualifying for one is generally buying people 2-3 months these days based on why I have recently seen. Processing times are faster than what they were before. The other challenge you potentially face is that IRCC may not allow you to claim that extra work experience since it was obtained on an extension that you didn't qualify for. Once the PGWP extension is refused, you would also end up in Canada without status and would need to restore your status to visitor without the ability to work. How are you planning on apply for PR / through which program? If EE, how many points do you have? Have you looked at the PNP programs?

You can certainly proceed with asylum claim. However would recommend you make sure you have a genuine and strong claim before you do that.

It's a mixed bag. Some were able to claim the time and some were not. I think it's very unlikely it will take 7 months for IRCC to refuse the extension so IMO this is not a good plan.

If you go the refugee route then you cannot apply for PR through EE or another economic immigration stream. That really limits your options and means you'll be counting on the refugee claim to be successful. That feels very risky to me in your case.

I would do this: Return home when your PGWP expired. Learn French to boost your score and qualify for the French draws and then apply for PR from outside of Canada. In the meantime, you can gain further work experience in your home country.

you jumped in to this conversation to waste your time no one invited you bro
Don't remember there being a requirement to be invited into a conversation. It's obvious you aren't an actual refugee and simply trying to game the system. It's people like you that delay processing and create concern for actual refugees.

There are huge consequences to filing asylum claims even when approved but if denied even larger consequences. If denied that will impact your ability to travel or work/study in many countries. Even if approved you will not be able to travel to you home country until you are a Canadian citizen which could take 5+ years, your family will have difficulty coming to Canada in the future unless as a PR, etc.

What is the process to claim refugee for workers in canada? do you just apply online or have to go to the border? my wp expires in 2 weeks, lmia is not an option, and pr score is very low so that's the only option now. Is there any specific claim type which has higher success rate? and can you continue to work? Thx
I understand you are desperate but just think twice.
If you dont have a solid story your will face deportation once the hearing is done. Maybe can make long your stay here with an appeal but if you have been here studying, for long time. Do you have a believable story for IRCC? I think they wont believe you.
Try to get an immigration consultant. Here we can give opinions but maybe there are other options that we dont know.
Good luck!!

They need to consult an immigration lawyer not a consultant.

You think that’s rude ?

Someone cheating the system ?
You’re not in a position to start lecturing people

What ever
Who’s created this system? Why they are letting people to make an easy to “cheat “
Lastly yup I’m the one giving lessons to those needs appropriate attitude to be fixed
Not only throwing shits or whatever comes in their mouths , if you find yourself in these extremely low behaviour then definitely I’m in a right position to give you lots of lectures until you become “a normal “person

so what is the point if you cannot work? the documentation is hard to provide but there is discrimination in general. this is not easy, i spent all the money to come here and no way to stay now.
The point is for people who fear death in their home country and be safe inside Canada. They won't be able to work but they will not be killed. (if they return to home country)
As answered by others, you DO NOT get implied status just because you try to claim refugee.
It's not a route to get PR because you failed to get enough points after you studied and worked in Canada.
PR is never guaranteed just because you spent money to study in Canada.
