I recently obtained my PR after I did a soft landing in Toronto (city of destination is Toronto). I returned to my home country after obtaining my PR. However, I am thinking of moving permanently to Canada by the end of this year. Can I move and live in Montreal instead of Toronto? Is it legal given I obtained my PR through the Federal express entry program? Thanks

After getting a PR you can settle in any province that you want or need. But be ready to be questioned about that when getting your citizenship.

Thank you. So i am legally free to move anywhere in Canada with my PR but also have the legal obligation to stay out of Quebec since it was a mandatoey condition in my EE application.

As a PR you can live anywhere you want and have no obligations about that. But the question maybe asked sooner or later, just be prepared for that.

Yes, individuals who have obtained permanent residency in Canada through the Express Entry system can choose to live in Quebec. However, there are some important points to consider:

  1. Quebec Immigration System: Quebec has its own immigration system separate from the federal Express Entry system. If you are already a permanent resident through Express Entry and wish to live in Quebec, you may need to go through additional processes with the Quebec government to establish yourself in the province.
  2. Quebec Selection Certificate (Certificat de sélection du Québec, or CSQ): In most cases, individuals who wish to settle in Quebec need to obtain a CSQ from the Government of Quebec. This certificate is required before you can apply for permanent residency with the federal government. Even if you have already obtained permanent residency through Express Entry, you may still need a CSQ if you plan to live in Quebec.
  3. Residency Obligations: As a permanent resident of Canada, you are required to fulfill residency obligations. This means that you must physically reside in Canada for a certain amount of time each year to maintain your status. If you choose to live in Quebec, you must ensure that you meet these residency requirements.
  4. Access to Services: Each province in Canada has its own services and programs for residents. If you choose to live in Quebec, you will have access to the province's healthcare, education, and other services. Quebec also has its own distinct culture, language (French being the official language), and regulations that may differ from other provinces.
In summary, while it is possible for someone with Express Entry permanent residency to live in Quebec, there are additional steps and considerations to keep in mind. It is important to research and understand the specific requirements and processes involved in moving to and living in Quebec as a permanent resident.

You are not required to be in Canada a certain amount a day every year to maintain your status. What major BS is this, when I got my COPR stamped it says there that you must stay 2 years out of 5 years but you can choose to not be In Canada 3 years straight and still maintain your PR.

So stop spreading lies.

you can choose not to be in Canada for a year even 1 day and can maintain your PR

You are responding to an old thread. Also, no idea who you are even responding to here since you've quoted no one.
